What does ocm mean, please? Edit: it is oil cleansing method?

Oh, can you use aqueous cream as an eye make-up remover too? I'm looking for something cheap-ish I can use to remove my eye make-up. Some removers I've used in the past have made my eyes feel sore and 'scratchy' so I'd prefer a product I could use for something else if the make-up remover idea doesn't work out. Is it true you can use baby lotion or baby oil as an eye make-up remover? Or which 'natural' oils would people recommend for use on eyes?

I haven't read it all but it seems to be a wealth of cheap beauty secrets. :)

i think vaseline is the best for removing eye make up .. i just bung a bit on some cotton wool and wipe over , it takes it all off .. waterproof mascara too .. and conditions your eyelashes in the process

  • Thank you. :) Is there any difference between almond oil and sweet almond oil?

imo jojoba is even better. it's much silkier than sa oil. and more expensive. it is also the oil which is closest to the skin's natural sebum i've read.

almond oil is used for cooking so it will be greasy whereas sa oil is used for skin so is much lighter.

Whereabouts in Boots is the coconut oil kept?:o

I wandered about in my local store for ages today looking for it, and when I asked the assistant, he only knew of coconut oil hand cream and body butter.

I have wondered this too. The one to avoid is bitter almond oil, which is in a totally different class and contains cyanide! Not too readily available on the supermarket shelves anyway!!

This site explains the difference between the two and goes on to refer to sweet almond oil as just almond oil.

I personally don't find the Sainsbury's almond oil too greasy. I find it very easily assimilated and wipes easily away. However everyone's skin is different!!

By the way, I just cleanse with oil, one of the threads for the full Oil Cleansing Method (OCM), for problem skins is here

I use the oil cleansing method (a third castor oil to sunflower mix) which is amazingly good as a cleanser and also moisturises slightly. I was amazed that this doesn't leave the skin greasy and I actually need to moisturise as well as my skin in quite dry.

For moisturiser I have a range of expensive stuff (mainly Philosophy) which was a gift but for everyday use I use Aldi's own, which did well in tests - better than Total Effects I think.

I use coconut oil for a body moisturiser and sent for a large tub from iherb with the first order code (on here somewhere). It's very versatile and can be used as a hair conditioner (preshampoo) too, as well as in cooking.

Other money saving ideas are to use ends of lipsticks as blusher by putting in a pot, mixing my own foundation using a cheaper one (such as Collection 2000) with Revlons Skinlights, so I can adjust the colour for time of year. I mix up small pots as I need them.

Another great MSE find is to use the smell-alikes from Perfume Parlour. These are roll on oils and copies of the big names. They cost a small amount and are mainly very good copies. This has saved me a fortune! (And the men's copies are also very good).

Finally, I've saved a fortune on shower gel by decanting bubble bath into a handwash pump. I've used a range of bath stuff from value stuff costing pence to stuff like Radox. It works out heaps cheaper and is basically the same as the gels sold specifically for showers.

I've been splashing my face with cold water after cleansing every morning since I was about 18 and it makes a real difference! I also massage rosehip oil every night which helps with scars.

Do you have the web address for this please? I can only find an iherb that is US-based.

Any suggestions for a substitute for Bio-oil which is a bit pricey? Would almond oil work as well?
