gammon in the deal?...not around here .. :-(

first time I have seen the gammon was yesterday ( and I have been getting this deal from the very first day it was brought out last year) it is a good size joint (750g) and perfect for slow cooker - also dated until 10th feb:D.

The beef that I got was the brisket piece ( £5.41 in money value) and 0.677kg in weight for whoever asked;)

I've never roasted these in slow cooker, do you leave it on low for 6-8 hours or should I cook it differently?

I need to plan a trip to get in and get some but it's snowed here all last night and roads are bad

Yes that's exactly what we do. We cover the base of the crock with a little water and just leave it on low 6-8 hours (or half that time on high).

I've been snowed in at home today and I really want to nip to M&S now for this deal!

I'll be back next week with my next £5 off voucher for more 3 for £10 deals!

Every day is a new challenge not a new problem!:p

    SW start 08/01/14 4/21lbs (1st target) :j

Thanks! So just a little water in the bottom of pot and meat rests straight on this.. Will give it a go. Does it taste any different if you cook on high for half the time, i.e. is it still as good!

Sorry to all for having gone abit off topic :o

  • i think im going to try the lamb shoulders...if iv enough room in the freezer that is

I had the lamb shoulder on Sunday. It was the best lamb I have had for a while now. I wish I had got 3 of them instead of mixing and matching. Hopefully they will have some more this weekend.

I think the £5 meal deal is also very good. A nice chicken pie, mash and veg for £5. gives me, hubby and son aged 7 a good size meal and is very easy to prepare when I get in from work. Perfect.

I always cook it on low all day. Also I put some onions at the bottom of the dish & put the meat on them. Slow cooked Brisket is delicous and so frugal as well.
