maybe these companys are ripping the govement off!
at first i thought it wasnt a very good deal , however the same laptop in argos samsung r519 with a 2gb is £350 , then a 3 mobile broadband dongle is £80 for 12gig , i belive the one we are supplied with has at least 24gig as it says on box that there is a 3gb limit permonth so if im right its preloaded with 36gig ??? i may be wrong as not managed to use it as yet so thats worth £180 , then they give you a laptop bag and mouse plus you get free delivery so when you add it all up its about right , plus personally im not moaning as it was free ,0 -

So why don't we fix it?
1/ We don't have any idea about PCs
2/ We don't have the money to pay someone else to do it.
Unfortunately not everyone is a computer techie person.
gohan people could have asked you the same question ????
why did you apply for a free laptop when there is one already in the household ??? and apply for free connection when theres a 10meg connection already there ?? if your gonna question other peoples reason your gonna get questioned yourself , that free connection as you call it could have stayed in the pot to help others , but you wanted to make sure nothing interfered with your downloads by look of it0 -
Why not sell the PC on eBay? get some money back? Explain you don't know what is wrong with it, someone will buy it. Usually PC problems are software based, which is very easy to fix.
Because
1/ I can't be bothered with all the hassle and fuss.
2/ I'm a mum of four, two whom are disabled, so I don't have the time.
3/ Maybe one of my kids will grow up to be more computer savvy than me and then they have a project to work on and maybe one day it will be up and running again. Then perhaps they can sell it and it can pay for them to go off and learn some more!0 -
andyfrank ...did you pick the wrong post to quote?
However I agree with you. In fact with so much computer knowledge surely they could have built one themselves!0 -
Just realised why I came on here in the first place...
Wanted to say Thanks to Positive IT. Despite the appearing to have most of the orders they still managed to the laptop to us this morning :T
I've currently put the battery on charge. How will I know when it is finished as I'd love to have it up and running for when the kids come home. (It is for them after all!)0 -
You can use it whilst it is charging up, they can be left plugged into the mains all the time.
It should say in the manual you get how long the initial charge should be.0 -
I am 24 years old and don't have any kids. I live with my mum and my siblings and I am responsible for the main PC. I know a lot about computer software and know what I am doing. I started learning computer software when Windows 98 was out. This laptop is going to be used by my two sisters for school work and other things, but also by my mother to check social networking sites. Things like NetIntelligence is stopping my sister from going on sites she wishes to use, so I uninstalled it.
I posted links for the help topics for Netintelligence. It is of course your right to remove it but it has been installed to protect children from malicious and adult sites.
Part of the reason alot of sites are blocked are these laptops are given out to help with childrens' education, more than social surfing.0 -

Thanks... There is no manual just an installation guide. That says charge fully before use, but not how long fully charged takes!
My only worry about using it now would be that I am draining the battery whilst charging it. Would that matter?0 -
No, it will be fine.0
