I realise these are old posts, but was checking for the tel no, when I came across these complaints about AK loans,
[TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] she applied on line to see if she could get a loan, she was then contacted by them by phone
Stupidly she gave them her card no, but never received any documents, she has now discovered she has had £89 taken out of her account, she hasn't had anything from them, so has signed nothing,
I would be interested to know if anyone has received a refund
Thanks in advance0 -

Look for said company online, look for terms and conditions OR phone them using a free/cheap number and ask about how to obtain a refund or email them. Generally you write to a postal address requesting said refund.
Theres even an address posted before your post, maybe double check its the correct address though.0 -
Hi, thank you for your reply, my daughter has tried several times to ring them and no one is answering, she has tried on the 0844 no, she is now writing to the above address, I gave it to her yesterday
She hasn't actually even applied for a loan, just requested details if she decided to go ahead
I will update later
I really wanted to know if anyone has successfully got a refund0 -

There is an address at the bottom of this page http://www.moneyessentials.co.uk/terms-conditions-loans-unsecure.php that is different to the one posted earlier.
Make sure she sends her letter recorded (so they can't deny receiving it) and tells them that she is cancelling under the Financial Services (Distance Marketing) Regulations 2004 and requires a full refund. If they say no or do nothing for 8 weeks complain to the FOS.0 -
One thing you can be absolutely sure of, you will NOT get a refund by phoning them.valeriej43 wrote: »Hi, thank you for your reply, my daughter has tried several times to ring them and no one is answering, she has tried on the 0844 no, she is now writing to the above address,
This is all they do, take money from people prepared to give out their bank details without a second thought. It may have only been an enquiry but she gave them access directly into her bank, they could have taken any amount. Make sure she learns this lesson on throwing such details around.
Those card details are only ever used to pay for something.
You can get a refund by following the correct procedure of writing. Don't expect them to buckle at the first request, they will deny receiving it (hence the resorded delivery), it will likely go as far as the FOS before a refund arrives.
The most you could ever expect to come out of this is dozens upon dozens of text messages and phone calls, most from people who simply want their own access into her account.
Make sure she understands that NOBODY will be calling with a genuine offer, no matter how nice they sound or promises they make.0 -
Thanks again for all replies, she was actually looking for a credit union, and clicked on AK s name when it came up, however she has tried phoning both numbers and no reply at all, so has now written, sending by recorded delivery,
They don't mind ringing you abut obviously know when someone rings them its a complaint
Thanks again, I will update when I have more0 -
My daughter has been promised her money back minus a fiver, but still waiting, they said if they didn't find her a loan in 6 moths she wold get a refund, she has told them she doesn't want them to find her a loan she has got one sorted, shes had to fill a form in saying something about 30 days, not sure what exactly but then she should get her money back, we will see0

Did your daugher ask to cancel within 14 days of signing up with them?`
If so, she is entitled to a full refiund - see here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=64755567&postcount=270
