Popping in to give you a cheer for the most brilliant steps that you've taken for 2010 and the positive plans you've put in place for 2011.

You should feel proud. A journey may seem long in front of you, but we often don't look back to see how far we've come. Never mind the bumps and twists and turns that you've encountered along the way, the fact is you are here now, standing tall, having circumnavigated all the vagaries of your life path. And for that alone, you should be smiling.

Have a most fantastic day today! :)

Hello, just found your thread. I hope you don't mind me lurking.

There are a lot of points in your OP that I need to get sorted out this year. Don't know if I will start one myself, but hoping I can pick up some tips.

For me, finances (managing cards), house (needs decorating), kids, health, spirituality (sadly lacking), friendships (must re-establish), and education (need to plan ahead) this year.

You have done so well in your goals. Hoping I can find some inspiration, and that you don't mind me jumping on the band-wagon. :)
  • Hi renovation girl,

Popped in to say thanks for inspiring me into making buying a new fridge freezer my first 2011 goal.
Although I am single I have decided that batch cooking and freezing is the way forward to helping me save my pennies.
I have only got a larder fridge at the moment and that was second hand when I bought it 6 years ago so I think I am perfectly justified in getting a shiny new ffreezer.
Back to the lists - I do love a good list, both writing one and then ticking off. I have just got back from going all around town with my little dog doing all the errands that have been stacking up. He is now fast asleep in his bed and I am feeling very pleased with myself!
I am also thinking about getting a new man, but am not particularly looking. I don't go out much socially so I think I may have to wait a while. I also used to live abroad and my ex rings a few times a week and that still feels like we are "sort of together" if you know what I mean? Not sure that I do, but that's the way it is.
I hope you have a good New Years Eve and keep posting.

And startagain, you sound just like me. I too still feel like my ex is hanging around, we were together for 6 years and he doesn't want to leave it. He was useless, I worked looked after my children and he lived here doing no work not even helping around the house, my feelings for him just faded away. But I'm trying not to get consumed by feeling sorry for him, but focus instead on positive changes I want to make, and a nice new relationship would be fab!!

Good luck in 2011 everyone. I've not started too well, had a chimney fire this afternoon and now have the chimney brush stuck up the chimney arghhh!!! :rotfl:

That is the trouble when you are a kind person - it is too easy to feel sorry for other people especially when they have been a part of your life. I am guilty of that but I have realised now that it is always at a cost to me and my life and how I feel. I am really trying to put myself and my home and life first now and have hardened up (a bit) to his woes.
I am sure we will both meet someone who will look after us, rather than the other way around. It is just a matter of finding him..... ;)

Wow, I remember growing up with chimneys, real fires and the soot! I don't envy you, as pretty and cosy as they are.
I am fine tuning my 9 areas of my messy life at the moment and like you am determined to make some headway in all of them.
My daughter and family came up to visit yesterday and we had lunch out which was great and made me realise that I have neglected family and the few friends that I have/had for far too long.:(
    Have a great day r.g.

  • Hey SA i hope you have a great day too.

Today is finances day. Although my bank hasn't updated itself, I have made a financial plan of sorts which includes piggybanking. I have to chase up some money I am owed.

I'm also planning on doing a bit of decorating in my DD2 bedroom today, I want to put a new carpet down, its the messiest room in the house, good excuse for a clear out xx

Good morning, renovation girl, thanks for letting me lurk, and pick up ideas. I really need to get my house in order, as am much happier when everythings tidy.

Unfortunately my daughters bedroom usually looks like its been burgled, as my son has an unfortunate habit of emptying everything out of her boxes into a big untidy heap on the floor. She has so many minature sets of things so can be a bit daunting.

I will probably have a good clear-out, by shoving stuff in bin liners, and taking to the charity shop. she has so much stuff she never plays with. My son too.

    You've inspired me already. :)

Next thing on the list will be tackle the big pile of forms, and paperwork on my desk.

William Morris said "Have nothing in your homes that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful", so be ruthless with those binbags!! Good luck xxx:)
