Online supermarket shopping cancellations due to snow thread [merged]

my local store had to postpone/cancel a load of deliveries because not all the staff can get in from where they live, so your street may be okay but the driver's might not be.
they had to send out someone to try and pick staff up from main roads because their streets were ungritted and not safe to drive on.Nonny mouse and Proud!!
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience!!

I just think if it's not possible for me to drive to the supermarket it is just as dangerous for the delivery driver to drive to me. I feel sorry for the elderly people and people in general who have no transport and particularly the people who have no suitable clothes, coats, boots etc for this weather and have no choice but to go out and freeze.0

Spoke (or typed) too soon when I said delivery was easily re-arranged. Have just gone into "My Orders" and the guide price which was £83 for the cancelled delivery is now showing as £144 for identical items to be delivered on Saturday. What on earth is that about?
i had a similar situation with the inflated guide price the other day. when the weather improved slightly and the shopping finally arrived a couple of days later, the price charged on the paperwork was correct, so it must just be a glitch on their system when rescheduling the same order. just keep an eye on the date of special offers ending from your original order, they may have finished when the stuff actually turns up and you will probably be charged the higher price. good of tescos to give the £10 off voucher though :money:squaaaaaaaaacccckkkkkk!!!! :money:0 -

Very true.
My son works for Tesco & he had to abandon his car there a few days ago & is now walking to & fro..a couple of miles. He will be walking home now as I type, the winds are up and it has snowed again most of the day. Not everyone is making it in. Perhaps some people don't appreciate the effort of those that do.
Oh & no, I'm not asking for him to shop for me too.By the time he has done a long shift..(from 11am this morning until 10pm tonight) there is no way I would ask him to spend time shopping afterwards & then trudge through the snow & winds at this time of night with shopping.

We had our re-scheduled delivery cancelled today and had to drive into the store to get some supplies. They hadn't picked the items so clearly had no intention of delivering but, despite having had all day to do so, didn't bother to call us to let us know and we only found out the order was cancelled when we rang up when the slot expired at 7pm. I was quite annoyed about this as I would have preferred to have driven to the store in daylight, but had to wait until it was dark and temperatures were plumetting (we're in a rural and hilly area). But they gave us a £25 voucher for our next shop.3-6 Month Emergency Fund #14: £9000 / £10,0000 -
Apparently there's a glitch with the system - it's charging per item rather than per kilo (ie. one banana is priced at the per kilo level, etc). As we have a lot of fruit and veg, this soon mounted up to an additional £60!
How does that happen? Price each and price by weight are two separate things and never mix.
If you buy a bag of bananas at a cost of £1 per kilo, then the system does not care about how many bananas are in the bag.
Similarly, if you buy 5 bananas at 20p each, the system does not give a fig how heavy they are.
Or, to put it another way, you never count things sold by weight and you never weigh things sold per item.
I think someone has been telling you porkies.0 -
But when you order on line you get the option of ordering by the kilo or by number, so you could order 2 bananas or 2kg of bananas. If when the system has reordered the cancelled orders they have been input the wrong way then the computer would get the wrong figure. I'm sure it will not be a system error, more a human error. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

Loose bananas are priced and sold by weight rather than individually, but when you select them online you choose how many bananas you want, not the weight of bananas you want. The glitch apparently meant that I had chosen eight bananas but was being charged for (or the guide price was showing) eight kilos. Ditto with flat mushrooms - asked for ten flat mushrooms, charged for ten kilos. Perhaps they are telling porkies, but it seems to make sense to me since the online ordering system does indeed mix weight and quantity of items. As Storck suggests, it's likely this happened when the cancelled order was rescheduled, and weights and items got transposed.3-6 Month Emergency Fund #14: £9000 / £10,0000 -
I'm trying to book a delivery slot with Asda, but the times are all blank?
Anyone having similar problems?0 -
They are probably not delivering due to the weather?0
