Online supermarket shopping cancellations due to snow thread [merged]

This happen to anybody else?

Tesco rang me up saying they can't deliver with the weather and would call back later to re-arrange which I understood. At half past 11 I got a text message, saying to re-do the order online when the weather clears up in my area...

Not the best service I was expecting there. Especially as in order history there is no option to re-submit with ease, as the status is delivered. And now some of the deals I was wanting have expired so going to the basket isn't great, as it'll cost more.

I only have my mobile and so don't particularly want to ring them having to call an 0845 number, any suggestions or has anybody else found a way of re-ordering OK?

Really annoyed me the text message, I understand the weather isn't their fault mind you.

  • Maybe email them via their website and ask them to call you and let you know how to easily re order.
  • I've emailed them in the past and got a very quick response (both by email and them phoning me back). The address should be in your order confirmation, along with your order number. They may be able to resubmit it their end?

I've had the same problem today, but they told me I had to reschedule the delivery myself. Hubby rang up and the earliest they could deliver was Saturday night! We told them no way and asked for refund as they have already taken the money from bank. They have now told us it will take 3 days to get a refund. I am fuming. It also took us ages to get through on phone so god knows how much that cost

Try ringing the store direct, they may have already picked your shop so you might be able to go pick it up. Not ideal but might be a way round.

As for the refund, they always seem to take 3 days even though they manage to get the money straight away.

our shopping was cancelled on 21st december when we had the snow then and we are yet to receive a refund! so you might want to chase them when it doesn't appear on your account. we've just been emailing them as the phone line is always queued at the moment

They've contacted me, told me I have to resubmit. They've given me a £10 off voucher, that worked with the £5 one I initially put in. The voucher didn't seem customised and generic so going to post it in the vouchers thread if it hasn't been done already!

MIne was cancelled too - I asked that they open the order for me to change it ready for next week. They did this, and all I have to do is book the delivery slot. They just copied it across.

That's just the way card processing works, don't blame Tesco as it is the same for every other retailer.

When I worked in retail it took 3 days for card payments to clear at our end...so although it looks like they have taken the money straight away it can take a few days to go through the banking system.

I had my delivery cancelled today, rang them up and arranged re-delivery very easily over the phone. Only problem was that were no slots until late Saturday (though, realistically, the snow round here is not likely to thaw enough for them to be able to deliver before then, anyway).
