In America (certain states atleast) it's the law that you have your foggies on ALL THE TIME. Even in perfect visibility, broad daylight. Seems silly, but it gets people in the habit.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I think that's probably the side-lights or driving lights as they call them.captainhaggis wrote: »In America (certain states atleast) it's the law that you have your foggies on ALL THE TIME. Even in perfect visibility, broad daylight. Seems silly, but it gets people in the habit.0 -

Well the Yanks ain't very bright are they?... They cannot even stop known terrorists getting on inbound flights.:rolleyes:0 -
Actually having driven in America, the long straight roads with lots of dips in them, especially in the desert where the heat creates that funny "vapour" effect on the roads, having your lights on even in broad daylight is very helpful and helps visibility no end.0

one of the things i love about my fiat is that the lights are always on... having had a lowered small sports car in the past I'll always use my lights to ensure other folks have a chance of seeing me sooner!0

It's a good job they don't allow people like you to fly aircraft.
Don't bank on it, it's commonplace to fly at inappropriate altitudes in order to conserve fuel amongst other little money savers they have, if you fly it's probably better not to know too much about what exactly is done in the name of cost efficiency.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
Sorry I was told by my driving instructor that it uses up fuel, I didnt realise it was very little though. I also keep everything off in the car, heater, air con, radio etc for the same reason. sometimes if I cant see I just use super beam to quickly illuminate. I also do put them on when there are no street lights, but streetlights are so powerful in places that the lights arent really essential if your emergency is that you are low on fuel. this is a moneysaving site afterall.
Have you been to Bath? Theres an A road going North from Bath that has fancy solar powered cats eyes which emit light, where there are no street lights. It's a great place to turn your lights off at night gives you a Star Wars/Star Trek effect.0 -
What really gets me are those idiots that drive their cars with just one headlight working,
when its the offside light out it creates the most dangerous thing on the road full stop.0
