Put your lights on!

sorry i keep the off to conserve fuel until it gets pitch black, nearly had to abandon the car due to low fuel, just managed to limp it into a petrol station and it actually stalled just as I stopped at the pump - very lucky! not many people know electrical current uses up more fuel. - heater etc. lights. ...
Yes they do all use "a tiny bit" more fuel, but you are a LOT safer driving with lights on than without.
Carting around the weight of all those seatbelts and airbags costs fuel too.
Why dont you take them all out to save weight?
Take the bumpers off too.
They are totally unused for most of the cars life, a total waste of fuel really.;)“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -

Are you serious?!:eek:0 -
Sorry I was told by my driving instructor that it uses up fuel, I didnt realise it was very little though. I also keep everything off in the car, heater, air con, radio etc for the same reason. sometimes if I cant see I just use super beam to quickly illuminate. I also do put them on when there are no street lights, but streetlights are so powerful in places that the lights arent really essential if your emergency is that you are low on fuel. this is a moneysaving site afterall.0

:rotfl: Theres money saving and then theres being dangerously cheap! You are joking right? Seriously, thats a spectacularly bad idea. You'd have to be daft to drive around in the gloom with your lights off just to save a few pence.
It must be a laugh riot travelling in a car with you in this weather, no lights, no heat, no music - I'd be providing my own soudtrack by clinging on to the dashboard screaming in terror if I was your passenger.
As far as I'm aware, you're not really supposed to let your car run so low on fuel its sucking on the last drops as it brings all the crap from the fuel tank into the system. And to be fair, its hardly a big chore to remember to fill up once you light goes on is it?0 -

Are you an idiot?
Would that be your defence when your in court for killing someone by dangerous driving?
Or shall i look forward to reading all the memorial tribuutes to you on here?0 -
Do you not understand that lights aren't just for helping you see - they are for helping other people see you.
Seriously, sort yourself out.0 -
Money Saving Expert is about getting things for less, not doing without. :rolleyes:0

My gast has been absolutely flabbered in the last month or so with drivers not having their lights on.
Just as bad are drivers who have their lights on - but they don't work. Surely they must notice? Some have bulbs that are gone so resort to driving everywhere with main beam on!
The worst case I seen recently was a car driving on the M4 at night in bad fog with no lights on! Luckily I wasn't driving fast, but still only saw him at last minute. Fair play though, when he saw me he put on his hazards.
Some people (and cars) should not be allowed on the road!0 -

Alternatively they're just idiots...
Have to agree with the OP though. Lights on people. Especially if your car is that lovely invisible colour of grey/silver that blends right in with the fog mist and manky roads.
