Completed my 3 today with a very wet cycle ride. Eventually had to stop and turn around as I couldn't see through my glasses because of the rain and was in danger of cycling into the canal. ;)

    Hope everyone is doing OK.

Going away for the weekend so completed my 3 early this week. Quite a varied week - Swim Monday / Cycle Tuesday and Gym session today. I am also going to Zumba this afternoon, so that will make four this week.

SandyC I am very impressed that you manage to swim for a whole hour. How many lengths do you tend to do in that time and do you vary the stokes you do?

Hiya, I'm currently on 5 this week, heading for a good one of 9!

Jess, it's a relatively small pool at 20m and I do around 100 lengths each time - 5 days per week normally before work. To give an idea a mile is 1600 metres and I do around 2000 each time. I don't vary my strokes as I'm rubbish at everything except breast stroke. I have improved don't get me wrong but I would only describe myself as average. Someone at work today told me they swim a mile in 29 mins and I think that's far better than me so maybe she does front crawl/freestyle which is faster.

It's quite boring as an hour really is a long time to be swimming without stopping but it's effective and I've built up from doing 40 mins. Mainly it's cos I had been going up in 5 min increments but always thinking about the total over the 5 days - so 5 mins per session makes 25 mins per week, 10 mins makes almost an hour etc. It was actually not intentional that I ever do more than 45 but because I can, I do!

Didn't manage 3 last week as away for a few days. Gym session and a swim today, so hopefully will do more this week. I have ordered myself a new bike - planning to fit more cycling into my day. Have joined in with the challenges on the Lose Weight thread which is helping me to stay motivated and the weight is beginning to come off.

SandyC I tend to stick to breast stroke as well. I am trying to improve my front crawl, but my breathing is awful and I keep swollowing water.

    Hope everyone is doing OK.

    Thanks for the advice Murphydog.

I am working on my 'core' muscles so hopefully that will help.

I do have an appointment with a chiropodist soon, so will ask their advice.
I have really flat feet and any training shoes with a raised instep really hurts my feet, so I am not sure whether an insole will help. I did wonder about barefoot running (on grass in the park) but I am a bit worried about what I will step on.

The knee supports are definately helping though, went for a run last night with them on and no pain at all today.

Have you tried these Jess? http://www.vibramfivefingers.it/eng/default.aspx

Quite pricey but get a lot of good reviews and as close as barefoot running as you can get but with added protection.

I might start this challenge anyway. I have a holiday in Australia in October (and a friend's wedding whilst there) that I need to get in shape for! Planning on a gentle jog tonight and want to do 20km in total over June as a starting target and a few weight sessions each week.

Welcome Piggeh. I have give the running a bit of a rest as I was having real problems with my knee. I did try some barefoot running on grass, but it didn't seem to help. I have begun to cycle more which I am really enjoying and have been going to the gym and the pool. I have also begun to do some squats which surprisingly is helping my knee.:)

I have a wedding in October as well, so I am trying to lose weight for that.
This thread is very quiet most of the time, so I have also joined the Lose Weight thread which is helping to keep me motivated.

I would like to join you :)
I'm trying to exercise 6 times weekly. I prefere home workouts and alternate different DVDs becouse I get bored quickly. This week my favourites are Tracy Andersons and Winsor Pilates.

Welcome iseeyou. I was thinking about getting some kettlebells to use at home. Do you know of any DVD's that use demonstrate how to use these correctly.

I find my knees really hurt when I do squats, do you get the same and does it improve after a while? Always a bit cautious with my knees.

Went for a 1.5 mile run today, god I am so unfit! I planned my week's exercise though, alternating between weights and cardio although will no doubt have a few ending up as rest days!
