  • Can someone please explain to me the following with regard to these GHD straighteners:

1: Is there a difference between the GHD "IV"s and the GHD "MK4"s or are they the same thing?

2: Is it safe to buy the GHD MK3's or are they subject to problems?

3: Do the MK3's have slightly wider plates?

4: What are the main differences between the MK3 and the MK4 and what warranty do you get with each?

I want to get my G/F some GHD's but I think the MK3's will be fine, I'm just worried of the stories I hear on watch dog etc. Surely this is all sorted now. I think some people get confusd with a bad "batch" and a "model". I just need someone to confirm the MK3's are still decent basically and the cheapest place to buy!

    Thanks for any help everyone!

Just bought some GHDs from Boots for £78.20 delivered - when it goes in the basket it reduces from £98 to £88.20 then a £10 voucher from hotukdeals reduced it to £78.20. Not as good as the Tesco deal (which I also got, just wish I had been told someone else wanted some!!)

Hi there, can you talk me through exactly what you did here? I can see if I buy online at boots now it goes from £98 down to £88 from the 10% off offer at the moment if you spend over a certain amount. Then I automatically qualify for free delivery and get 1000 points for the transaction which is great, but the price stays at £88.20. How did you get it down to £78.20, a further £10 off?

    Thanks
  • Ok just to help some people out here. If you go to Boots and add the GHD MK4s to your basket @ £98, you automatically get 10% off as it is an online offer when you spend over £70 at boots.
Then you can try two promo codes:

SJMA36 = Try this one first. This gives you an extra £10 off!!!
ADCT83 = Sometimes it auto puts this in and gives you an extra 1000 points you can collect in store.

I tried to do both together and it didn't seem to work for me. Seems a bit flakey, as I just went back to check and the SJMA
36 one says it cant be used at this time now. Anyway, my order went though confirmed as £78 and qualified for free delivery! That matters most to me, I might have been able to bag 1000 points but im sure you cant use both at same time?

£78 though is a bargain as though these would cost me £90-100. I nearly bought the mk3's earlier today for £75.

    Thanks all

As far as I know they are the same thing.

2: Is it safe to buy the GHD MK3's or are they subject to problems?
I don't think there are any problems with the MK3s as I've had mine for years with no problems.

3: Do the MK3's have slightly wider plates?
I don't think so. It's the "salon styler" version that has the wide plates.

4: What are the main differences between the MK3 and the MK4 and what warranty do you get with each?
Don't know about warranty but the MK4 is dual voltage and has a rounder barrel for curling. Also comes with a styling DVD. If all your g/f wants to do is straighten, the MK3 ones will be fine. All the DVD stuff is on the GHD website anyway. I have just broken my MK3s and have bought some MK4s and am hoping it'll be easier to curl my hair with. Or I would have just bought MK3s at a lower price.
    Hope that helps
  • Great. Just bought one for my wife's birthday. All at £78.20. Only one code can be used though...i used the SJMA36

    £98 with automatic 10% online discount = £88.20
    Used £10 off code LYDM75 (SJMA36 didn't work for me) = £78.20
    Quidco 3.5% = £2.74
    392 Advantage card points
    Total = £71.54

  • I have just ordered mine via quidco, so pleased to get them for £78.20. The code LYDM75 worked. I was peed off to miss the tesco deal this makes up for it. A big thank you. :T
I am new to quidco, how long till transaction shows in my earnings? And how do you turn earnings into real cash?

  • The £98 ones on the bots site say GHD IV's, that means they are mark 4's.
