Did you not try sending them back to Jemella first with a complaint letter? They normally are very good at exchanging due to the bad press they receive about faulty ones. I'll try and dig out the address and post back with it. Send back via recorded delivery and enclosed the receipt and they should refund that for you.

ermmmm... too late :o my dad has dismantled them and the wire was off! so he tried soldering it back together but then gave up! whooppsss

and now they have gone to heaven (aka the wheelie bin!!!)

i have had them since march 2004 so two years and a bit!

do you think that they would have done any thing!!

i wish i has thought about that first but i just presumed that the warranty was out of date

I thought GHD'S came with a life time guarentee- is this a lie? Was considering buying some on that basis, because although I have hair like a frizzy mop, I really cant justify £70 on straightners, just dont care about my appearance that much.

hiya just to let you know that i now couldnt live without my ghds, i have naturally curly hair and are great at making it perfect straight!!

i think mine only lasted 2 years because i used them every single day, and ive got to admit that i have dropped them a couple of time :o

looking forward to getting my new ones :T

I have never had any problems sending mine back and receiving a replacement, regardless of age. There has always been a genuine fault, first time the plastic casing holding the ceramic plates cracked, thus causing the plates to fall out, second time the wiring came lose from the plug. Each time a new pair was shipped within 7 days.

    Good luck
    Frizz :D

GHD have a lifetime guarantee! My SD had broken two sets of straighteners in the last 18 months (don't ask me how, lol  ) and both times, GHD have replaced them a brand new set.

Is it a standard 12 month warranty that comes with them?

The first ones she had just over a year - they started sparking one day from where the cord joins the hand held bit. To be fair, she always wound the cord really tight around the handle after use and this would weaken them. The second set broke after 4 to 5 weeks; but she does drop them alot.

Just a quick question Claire (nothing to do with your original question)

Do you use any products on your hair when you starighten it? I have natually curly hair too, and like you I straighten it every day but its become quite thin and if I am in a humid/damp atmoshere it starts to frizz, I use Sunsilk staight & shine (something like that) and its the best thing I've tried but always looking for new products that work (that is condition and protect my hair & keep it looking good)

    Thanks

    Sarah
