I borrowed my sister's GHD's for a couple of weeks but was so worried about them breaking while in my posession I decided to buy my own as I couldn't bear the thought of spending £90 to replace them. After reading a number of reviews I bought BaByliss 2085U Pro 230°C Straighteners from Amazon for £31.20, they have been selling by others for up to £59.99. I have been using them now for a couple of weeks and I personally think they are just as good if not better than GHD's. I have long curly and frizzy hair and it only takes me about 5 minutes to get my hair smooth and straight, and this lasts until the next wash. They have temperature control and also come with a 5 year manufacturers guarantee. As GHD's also have a reputation for breaking down I would be worried about spending £80-£90 on GHD's especially if bought on Ebay. Boots were selling the same Babyliss ones in pink for £59.99 thought it was only during October for breast cancer but had whole display of them in my local store (Tunbridge Wells) last Saturday.0

My hair goes wavy as soon as I go outside even if it's only a wee bit moisture in the air. Would GHDs make my straightend hair stay straight longer? You may walk and you may run

I would recommend the Babyliss pro 230 as well, i saw some recommendations on here and on Amazon and got some from Boots and they are great. Much cheaper and just as good version of Ghd's.0

I seen the pink Babyliss ones in Boots yesterday but still making up my mind. Have bought around 4 pairs of straighteners now and wish I had just bought GHD's to start with. I borrowed my friends and they were great.
Anyway checked on Boots just now and they are £49.99 and its triple points or if you find a code even cheaper.:hello:0 -
been following this thread with great interest. I have my little sisters cast offs. She got GHD's about 18months ago and i got her old non-ceramic hair straighteners, which were ok but they have now totally packed in.
I am so tempted to get GHD's but not sure i can justify the cost. after reading this thread I am now considering the alternatives - think it's between the babyliss and the GHS......but still not 100% sure what to go for. Would it be worth waiting for a january sale???????????r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -

I would go with GHS - I had the same dialemma but thought if the GHS dont do the job properly I can send them back and get my money back and look for some others - a lot of companies wont let you take back straighteners just because they dont work on your hair (health and hygeine regs) but GHS do.0
