I have some savings so I don't think I get much or anything on income support. But I'm below the savings threshold if i'm on incapacity benefit.

Relationship.............I dunno. It's hard to tell if it's my depression or my doubts are correct. I just want nothing difficult to deal with at the moment.
I'm overdue contacting her but I just don't want to.
Feels like i'm obliged and I don't like it.

    Oh well.
    Ta

    Hi gilly :hello:
You should be entitled to a sick note and please try and apply for every benefit there is - preferably with the help of CAB.
Blinky's right - my sick note has reached the stage where I don't have to send one in now until 2009! Of course they can ask you to a medical at any time. I started off on Incapacity benefit but as the time of my problems physical & mental prolonged itself, the rates increased. Don't forget also, that anyone who is likely to be ill for 6 months +, can claim for DLA. It doesn't matter if you're working, married/single etc and it is not an income based benefit either. It is really important that CAB or DIAL help you with filling out the forms as they have the experience and knowledge to assist in using the relevant language in a claim and know what to ask.

About the relationship hun - you've got so much on right now it's no wonder you don't know what you want to do. Your first priority is to yourself and your health. Could you explain to the person concerned that you're not well and that you can't commit very much at the moment because you're ill? You don't have to tell them the reasons you're ill. Follow what your heart tells you hun and if it's meant to be, it will be. Too much stress will make you more ill hun. Thinking of you gilly.hug.gif

Does anybody know much about Quetiapine

I found a prescription for this in 'S' flat and it seems to be for schizophrenia - she's never admitted it to me or flatmate before - it's not a problem for me, but the confirmation of what it is, has just surprised me a little, although I had an inkling, as well as others here, that she may be schizophrenic.

Hope everyone is well, sorry i'm not replying to much right now, my head is full of things I am struggling with.

    Hi miro!:hello:
Yes hun - I am taking it myself. It is not just prescribed for schizophrenia (which I do not have) but also small doses can be prescribed for anxiety. It is not addictive unlike some meds are. I can't say not being a professional, why s is taking it, but don't jump to any conclusions angel - no matter how likely they seem to be. Sometimes a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing can't it? It can be so easy to misinterpret things hun. Hopefully she'll tell you if she wants to but don't ask her about it because that will bring up all her trust issues and she'll possibly get really upset. A lot of schizophrenics can lead a fairly normal life with medication and support so even if she does have it, it may not destroy the chances of a relationship. We all tend to be very sensitive when it comes to our mental ill health. You don't want her thinking you're spying on her. You have to respect her privacy angel and to a degree, do as you would with any relationship - she'll let you in when she's ready. take care hun.hug.gif

one thing i have learned is never show that you have a mental illness, things DO change, the way people treat you, its actually quite angering when supposed freinds quickly treat you as if your an alien all of a sudden, maybe thats why people keep it within themselves because it really is one of the most annoying things a person can do, people with mental illnesses are still human beings, they can still do things everyone else does, its all about how it affects you, sometimes its mood, other times it can be tempremant problems....

    Hi kronas! welcome.gif
This is so true hun - mental ill health does not stop us from being any less human or capable of possibilities than anyone else. People are afraid because they don't understand - it's them we should feel sorry for in a way because they could be missing out on a great relationship! If they can't deal with your illness, then they are as much of a problem as the illness is. You'd actually be better off without them in most cases. Nobody likes to talk openly about mental ill health and a lot of times, we find it hard to understand ourselves.
Years ago, nobody ever talked about cancer - it was taboo. But education and starting to talk about it, has brought it into the open and people are now so willing to help those poor souls. I hope that once people realise that we all probably know someone who has a mental ill health issue, then by talking about it and educating them, it will do the same for mental illnesses. The stigma is a terrible bedfellow to depression etc., as most people imagine axe murderers when they hear of mental ill health! I've not met one yet!;)

Hi Hun, Hope your ok! :A

I'm Just fed up leading this secret life, he was suppose to tell his stepson in between xmas and new year of our relationship, i guess i already knew he wouldn't do it so it's back to square one!
It will sort itself out. :o

It's always a pleasure reading your posts, you take care :A
    xxx

    Hi stenny!:hello:
I know how much it upsets you hun.hug.gif How long have you guys been together? Is he very close to his stepson? Is stepson under 18? Don't mean to pry stenny - just trying to build up the big picture.;)
I know you both had a recent split and if it's any consolation hun, the fact that you're back together gives hope. Not taking sides in any way, hug.gif but I think one of the worse times to break any kind of shock to people, would be then angel. Maybe he couldn't bring himself to do it then. So, it's time to sit down and draw up a new schedule for telling people. Sadly, the fear of people's reactions mean some people find it so very hard to say it. It can't be an easy thing to do hun I imagine. Equally though, you have every right to want an open relationship, without having to hide when family etc., come round. There should be no shame in love.;) hug.gif

    Well,
I had a load of hassle from the dole today. Grrrrrrr
    Then went down the docs.
Got my fave doctor today. Talked about my ear first which meant it was the thing he focussed on. I'm glad coz it is my biggest problem.

Anyway I think he's read my notes about the depression because hes given me AMITRIPTYLINE. It's an AD but with pain killing properties. So it will reduce my headaches, reduce my tinnatus, reduce back pain AND have some AD effects apparrently. Either it's a miracle drug or I've been given smarties.

PS and a 4 weeks note - which takes the pressure off me as far as dole is concerned (I hope).

    Hi gilly!:hello:
I'm also taking Amitriptyline hun. It is another example of a multi-tasking medication. It is an AD but I was prescribed it for physical pain and because I take it at night, it seems to help me sleep too (sometimes  ). So no, it's way out of the smartie league gilly.;) Obviously, we all take different meds for different reasons and it's good that dr is going to keep a close eye on you.
I'm glad you got to see the dr instead of the vet you saw last time hun!hug.gif
Well, that's taken some pressure off you angel.:T Take care hun.

    Hi again gilly!:hello:
    Grrrrrrrrrrrrr
The site crashed and wiped my huge post for you all!
    Start again.....[quote/]
Ditto here hun - glad it's not just me! I just pressed the submit button and it went off. I'd written the equivalent of a chapter from War and Peace! I was a very slightly ticked off Tiff!

I am not having this girlie xx
You are such a help on here. I am annoyed that you never let on how down you were. Big hug and xx for you. I always hoped you were one of the thread's success story. I like it when someone on here is doing well - like Blinky's love life.
PS Where in the mids are you? Next time i'm in brum I'll buy you a hot chocolate (1st in my depression thread world tour maybe).
    xxxx
Sorry gilly and thanks for the hugs.;) No milk though I notice!
Sorry I've disappointed you hun - I hope in a way I can be one of the thread's success stories, in so much as that it shows that we are survivors and we don't give up and we can deal with more than we think we can sometimes. It's like I say hun - you never know what's going on behind closed doors.
I honestly just like to support people and maybe give them a bit of hope. Well that's probably blown out of the water now the illusion is shattered! :rotfl: I'm truly amazed at what wonderful people we have on here and I'm very grateful for all their kindness.
I'd like blinky's love life too - though not with r!:D
Verily, I dwell in the hamlet of Nuneaton, home of the famous author George Eliot and ridiculously high council taxes! It's not too small really, lol. And we've got electricity and everything!:D :rotfl:
But will I be able to get past the bouncers on your world tour though gilly? ;) Take care gilly.

No guilt trips for you young lady!! you know you're not sposed to go on those kind of trips!!! You didn't upset me.. was a good reminder that while I'm wallowing in my own misery and having a private pity party.. there are others out there who are having just as crappy a time and could do with a shoulder now n then too. *huge huggs tiffy* and post all your problems whenever you like.. isn't that what we're all here for?

    Hi again ethel!:hello:
I'm sorry hun - my post wasn't meant to criticise people who are feeling very low or having a hard time. It wasn't meant to be about me either.
I'm touched (don't anybody say a word!:D ) at your kindness and I will try and open up more ( "you'll all be soweeee!") on the thread. Talking to other people about their problems helps me and is a distraction from my own problems.:o I bet you all think I'm such a fraud now!

Has Tiff lost all her thread credibilty? (hence the new avatar!:rotfl: )

    Yes, absolutely we will.

Make them uphold their duty of care - shame on them closing down your options. Good idea contacting your MP, you could maybe also contact your local newspaper - might not be what you'd consider, but it's kinda my neck of the woods - health care trusts hate bad publicity, plus this time of year - after xmas and new year is a 'slow news' time of year and editors are grateful for good local stories. Maybe it some thought hun?

I've gotta crash hun. But please email me if you need to ok? Anytime. Get some rest hun. Much love, Sazbomb xxx
