flis21 wrote:Hi all, I have fab news. I got the job. Feeling really happy and positive now. Only got one more week of working for the evil boss from hell!!!
I don't think I really drink that much, never drink in the week, but can polish off a bottle of wine to myself on a Fiday or Saturday night.
Well done Flis, that is fantastic! When do you start? I bet you feel so much better now the worry is off your mind.
I only drink when I'm low. Probably about 1-2 times a week at worst. I do tend to drink alone, but thats just cos I've got no mates heheStay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

Not too bad thanks, still got alot on my mind, worrying about someone else, but I just hope they don't continue making the same mistakes, or i'll get worse myselfNothing I can really do, I just hope one day i'll realise they aren't for me anyway.
Hope you cheer up soon, e-mails can be mis-interpreted, maybe his boss was getting on his back0 -
BungleGirl wrote:I ditto what flis21 said about volunteering - I have worked with volunteers for over three years and many come as they want to ease themselves back into work, some know that they may never be able to work but still want to do something - all are fantastic people and the project that I set up would never exist if it weren't for the fantastic volunteers, knowing them has changed my life in a very positive way and I would class all but a few as great friends.
Interesting to read. Have been considering volunteering as an option before back to paid work for a while. Some places don't appreciate though, and have bad experiences in the past.0 -
Miroslav - try again with volunteering! I can totally see that not everyone has a good experience of it but I think that in that respect it is the same for jobs - some you love and some you hate, some you get on with your colleagues and boss and some you don't. But with volunteering you have the flexibility to chop and change until you find the right thing for you.
Do you have a local Volunteer Centre? Ours is really great and they take a great deal of time to talk with you and find out the things that you are interested in to try to point you in the direction of something suitable. I have had some volunteers join us for a day and it is just not what they were looking for and they don't come back - that is how it is and I have no problem with that.
On the depression front I know that excercise and being outdoors can help some people (I know that an hour of weeding is really god for me!)- there may be a local conservation/wildlife project? Perhaps a group that help elderly people look after their gardens?
I suffer with depression on and off, I work with volunteers that are bipolar, schizophrenic (no idea how to spell that) or have just been out of employment for a long time. Some have never missed a day and others phone at the last minute to say that they can't come as they are having a bad day - everyone is different - but we all have a great time and now have regular social evenings at each others houses. Don't give up on volunteering, try again and if you are not happy with the organisation don't feel you have to stay just try somewhere else. I think that it is important to do something that you are interested in or something you have no knowledge of but would really like to learn about.0 -

I will try again, and yes we have a volunteer centre that I have been in contact with. I've just not made the next step. I'm not sure what I want to do, but just help people. Not the elderly, but middle aged and/or youngsters.
Outdoors may be a good thing. I went into town yesterday, it was nice to get out of the flat for once.
I think you have Schizophrenic spelt rightVolunteering does indeed mean I can change if i'm not liking something, so it's a nice way of working again. Although I get very little money for being 'unwell', giving something to the community is something I would like to do

Well went to the doctors and it went better this time, im now back on meds to help with feeling low and anxisety and he has assured me I will get help.
Im due back in 4 weeks for meds again and to check my referal status, the only thing is that the side effetcs from prozac weren't great last time I was on them and I don't know if i should tell work i may not be myself.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 0650 -

Glad to hear that it was a bit of a help, hope it doesn't take too long to kick in. Is prozac an SSRI?
I enquired at my old work about getting my job back - he said they were hiring, but took that back when he found out that I'd worked there before and left due to illnessStay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0
