    Citalopram and Paroxetine.

I come down yeah. The lows are bad. But the highs are beautiful - you see things other people don't see :)
I've only had 3 manic periods.
Both are SSRIs and for different needs. I noticed a side effect on the Citalopram is a tendancy to self harm before it kicks in.

I took Paraoxetine and it made me put on weight and get very bunged up (sorry tmi:D)

I felt better on it then got weepy, so came off it again. got a nasty rash on my arm and when I bleached my hair, my scalp was very sensitive, yet was OK whilst taking the pills.

I can't advise or suggest which drugs to take, as I am not a doctor or am allowed to prescribe or give medical advice, so I would tell you doctor as much as you can, starting with what you told me and the others on this forum.

I can certainly share my long path of good and bad experiences with meds, doctors and life!

Can remember when you had them and what happened?

I can't really remember all that much.
The usual tho - alot of stupid mistakes, risk taking, dodgy behaviour. All stuff like that.

After the paroxetine, I was told that I'd be safe on citalopram. Don't know if I can trust them now.

Does your depression fits the above description?

Tell the doctor about how you are and see what they suggest.

I am going to have to goto sleep now or at least try to. The builders next door will arrive early and I want to get some sleep before they arrive. I blame my a/hole husband for being up this late.

Hope you are OK and will talk again later when I get up:)

  • My experience with Prozac, was that it made me twice as bad (a rare reaction in some apparently) and made me even more suicidal than i already was.

    Its kinda OCD/self harm.
I've been living with it for 10 years. I want to keep it. But I know I shouldn't

You wouldn't be the only one. There's a great composer called James McConnel who also has Tourettes with really bad OCD, and he's choosen to live with both (very severe) without taking any meds, as he feels that both are part of him and he is diminished without them as a person. He's also just written a really good book on the subject - Life, Interrupted: The Memoir of a Nearly Person.

It's available both on amazon at a reasonable price, but also from https://www.thebookpeople.com for about a fiver. It's a great read - sad, funny, highs, lows etc. Not only is it a good read for anyone with the condition, but it makes a great gift to close friends to help them understand what it's all about.

Long story, but I've bought 6 copies to hand out.........

I had a terrible night sleep and woke up with a migraine

Been stressing about my Mom all night because she was really abrupt with me yesterday.

Long story so bear with me:

My dad has been off sick from work since April with suspected angina which is still being investigated. At the beginning of October to doctor signed him off for another 3 months, now my parents knew that his work would finish him after paying 26 weeks of SSP but he thought he would be rolling in money.

He thought they would pay him full rate for notice period (don't have to) and that he would be paid holiday pay (he hasn't worked this financial year)

Now as far as I can gather they have finished him on the grounds of capability, especially as the doctor has told my dad he won't ever be able to do a physical job again. He says he wouldn't be able to do any other jobs because he can't read and write very well and has no computer skills.

He signed on incapacity benefits yesterday and my mom was really moody about it because she expected more money.

My biggest gripe I have is they are not prepared to help themselves, they have been living above their means. Food shopping for them comes to £80 per week (just 2 of them) and they pay out £10 on lottery, £2 pocket money to 2 of my nieces (although my other neices and nephews get nothing)

Speaking to my mom is so counterproductive for me, am thinking of cutting them out for a while. Not phoning them (they never phone me) and not going down

Sorry for the rant, need to get that off my chest

Awww sorry bunnie :( Sometimes you do need time away from people to clear your head.

I was going to go to the doctors today. I phoned any everything. After 10 mins of it being engaged I gave up. I'll make it there one day x

That is terrible, some doctors are so useless.
