Hi can_it_be_different, how are you? Welcome to the thread, sit down, relax and feel at ease that you can talk here.
I can understand what you mean, at times I get very alone, I liv on top of a hill so things are very remote for me, and in the area I am in, everyone knows everyone, so you can feel trapped and like people are watching your every move.
It is very hard going back to the places we grew up in and being around people that gave us trouble at school, (I am actually having a similar prob at the mo).
I understand about not wanting to see your GP, but you must push yourself if you can, I didn’t want to but if you dont get the help when you need it, it can build up and make things worse. Take care

    Hi flis
    How are you? :D
Sounds like you keeping ok and that is great.
It is quite alright to express how you feel by crying, talking on here or with friends, and things. ;)
And I hope in time that the pain eases with how you feel about your hamster, pets are great friends, they don’t answer back and they are there with us.
Yeah you def need to talk with your doc as regards to your medication, see what he recommends and what his advice will be.

Thank you for thinking of me, I am going through a difficult time at the mo, and it helps to know that you are all here.

    Much love to you :A

  • Hello everybody
I am a new poster - it took me ages to work out just how to log in and actually communicate rather than just lurk. I have been suffering from depression for about four months each year over the past six years - really debilitating and awful for my children to have to live through - though they have been really good: this was not how it was supposed to be - I should have given them a really good life. I hope they will one day forget all this and not be prone to depression themselves. Does anyone know whether this can be "learned" or is it hardwired into someone's personality - or what?

It sounds like you did the right thing in not going to the interview in the rough area, well done for realisin it wasn’t for you. And even more well done on getting a job, this is something I know only to well at the mo, and even tho it is hard to settle back in, I am finding my feet. Lol

    Hope you ok

hello and welcome to the thread
i know what you mean, i was a slow learner, only knew about this site from bout july or may. but never fear you are here now.
It is good that you are facing that you have depression at these times, my mum wont face it. And i understand your concern for your children as i am the same with my mum as it were, and they will just want you to be ok and getting th help you need. are you getting any help?
I think it depends what kind of message you send out to them if you tell them you are not ok but getting help then they will understand that IF they are ever in a situation where they cant cop then the thing to do is get help.
are you close to your children, and can i ask how old they are?

    much love to you
and hope you settle in ok here

Hello and welcome a'mummy. It's understandable your concern for your children dealing your depression on top of you having deal with it yourself. But children are very resilient and I'm sure you have given them a good life - maybe more than you give yourself credit for? As for 'hardwiring' - I'm afraid not something I have the answer to - probably best discussed with your doctor. Sx
