When if there's more than one of anything in the cupboard, everyone knows there was BOGOF or similar deal going onThere is no issue so small that it can't be blown out of proportion0
-
when you make a salad sandwich and only spread one slice of bread cos the other will have mayo on...
(works just as well with egg/bacon/sausage etc with ketchup, cheese with pickle, cold meat with mustard, horseradish etc..whatever you usually use as a dressing)
when you make a cuppa, pour on the water then the milk only to see it curdle...then pluck out the teabag and rinse it quickly under the cold tap before starting again... happened to me this morning

Ew, milk and a teabag in the same cup!!! Next thing you'll be telling me you put the milk in first, then the bag, then the water!!!!!!
[tea pedantry]
You have to warm the pot/cup first, then put the bag in, then pour the water over the bag, leave to infuse, then pour from the pot/take the bag from the cup, THEN the milk.

You're quite safe, I use teabag, boiled water, milk in that order. Usually drink green so no milk but do like a cup of English first thing
Oh you forgot, let the boiling water stop bubbling before pouring it onto the tea, or it scalds it and spoils the flavour0 -
...when people in work ask you what bargains you have picked up overnight
when people think i have spent a fortune at christmas
when i shout at my cat for sitting in my christmas/birthday present box
when 1 of your freezer shelves is full of seperated packs of meat ready for meals that you picked up reduced in the local shop
When you argue the toss with the bloke in the shop at 6.30am cos he overcharged you 6p on your purchase
when you refuse to use food on your snowman so you cut up a milk tray inside bit to use themI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. When (although fuming slightly) you calmly explain to your friend from work who said you must be *terrible* with money as you 'never seem to have any to spend even though you earn the same wage' that you're not buying clothes / toiletries / new cars / meals out / dinner every night from M&S / lunches at work etc like her ON PURPOSE to save up some money for the *future*!
**Sorry, rant over**0 -
Asking your mum for her empty Kandoo hand wash containers (as you'd never buy such an expensive product) because as well as mixing value shower gel/hand wash/whatever was cheapest 50/50 with water to make it go further, the foaming hand wash containers dispense even less product all foamed up and ready to use! Double money saving! (Also works with washing up liquid, shampoo etc)!
Actually being annoyed when you have to buy certain items new (because you can't find them second hand) knowing full well not only does it cost more, but it means more things get thrown away when they have loads of use/life left in them. (I love charity shops, freegle/freecycle etc).OMG - I've laughed so much at this thread I've had to stop when barely halfway through ! Saving the rest for tomorrow when I come home after another manic day at work. Will cheer me up.:rotfl:
I do most of these, but some were a revelation and I don't know whether to be glad I've not got the MSE bug that badly............. or annoyed that I didn't think if it first !!
lol I was thinking I do a lot of these things but there are some that are a step too far for lazy old me!
I never go to the cinema unless it's Wednesday though!A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -

Oh Gawd, just noticed my own typo LOL!!!!! :rotfl:SavvyStudent wrote: »When (although fuming slightly) you calmly explain to your friend from work who said you must be *terrible* with money as you 'never seem to have any to spend even though you earn the same wage' that you're not buying clothes / toiletries / new cars / meals out / dinner every night from M&S / lunches at work etc like her ON PURPOSE to save up some money for the *future*!

I get this all the time... some peeps have said that I 'act like a student' in having no car, taking a packed lunch to work, using Orange Wednesdays, restaurant vouchers, only buying toiletries on offer, doing things that are free i.e. walking etc instead of spending all day Saturday shopping, never buying anything full price, cooking from scratch loads, using leftovers etc etc. What they don't realise is that they are fools, not noticing when they are being ripped off/overcharged, spending all their money (and running up CC debt) on tat and having nothing to show for it!
Whereas I have a decent bank balance and will hopefully be able to buy a house sometime soon. Some of my mates have no savings AT ALL. Zero. Zip. Nada. Rien. The very thought of that scares the crap out of me. Even pre-MSE, I always saved. One of them earns more than me and owes £3k on credit cards!!!!!!!!!! How is that possible??????

Edit: P.s. Congratulations on doing so much saving up! I only graduated and started working in August so that's the point I'm hoping to be at this time next year-ishinspiring! x
