They screwed me over as well.

I also have been charged interest which has not been refunded. They also claim the payment came on the 8/1/2010, when it did not leave my account till 12/1/2010.

As I was worried when it did come off, I have paid twice now am I in credit on a card I want to tear up following their decision to stop cashback.

John Jones, who is their Head of Cards is going to be hearing from me.

  • Has anyone checked their credit file for a missed payment? I would like to apply for the amex card and wondered if it would be declined due to missed payment.
If so, I wonder if they would review decision if I sent a copy of the Citi letter detailing the error and that credit file would not be affected? Or maybe its just a case of 'computer says no'?
  • Well, I officialy have no idea what is going on with my account at the moment.

They have taken 16.98 interest but have now refunded £2.47 and then £14.62 and then another £3.45... where are they getting these values from!

Who do they have working there.... what's wrong with just cancelling a 16.98 charge, it not like their system can cope with refunds they do it when shops refund money to the account!

My card is has now been cut up and is currently in some land fill... somewhere where this company sould go!

They have not taken any money today (01/02/2010) as it is my payment due date! Has anyone else experienced this?? I am on the phone waiting for an answer. Other direct debits from account have all gone with no problems.

But Citicards (Shell credit card) well, what can I say....I want out and close this account.
  • I suffered the December 29th direct debit fiasco, but received assurances that it would all be sorted by my next statement.

Imagine my surprise on opening my statement today to find that I have failed to make the minimum payment this month, by the tune of £12, the exact amount of the late payment fee that was reversed. In other words their computer has not deducted the late payment reversal from my minimum payment making me in arrears!

To add insult to injury the statement includes a warning that I have now failed to make the minimum payment two months in a row, and they have revoked my lifetime balance low interest rate, which has tripled the interest on my account!!

When I mentioned this to customer services (use 08007837788) they said everything will be put back to normal in time for March's statement, and there is absolutely no possibility that their automated system will inform the credit reference agencies and affect my credit rating. No possibility of that happening at all...:rotfl:

My husband was on a preferential interest rate and we were assured by telephone that this would be reinstated.

Imagine our surprise when opening the February statement - interest adjustment comes to less than £1.10 (lots of entries for 2p and 1p etc. and one for 90p) , late payment fee refunded, but interest charged is now THREE TIMES + what he was paying in November/December and the minimum payment has doubled.

Citibank CAUSED this and failed to take the Direct Debit. Now we are being expected to cough up for THEIR mistake?

Minimum waiting time on phone now about 7 minutes "due to unprecedented levels of calls".

I shall be writing to them, just can't believe they have just told me that I defaulted for their screw up and have removed my preferential rate!

Not just one screw up but 3 times!

I think everyone here should complain in writing and take this to the FOS.

Clearly a widespread issue that the FOS need to be made aware of, the customers affected need to be compensated, and the company involved (Citi) need to be fined. Everyone's gotta band together here :o

I agree I'm writing a letter, not going to spend time and money phoning their 0870 number!

    We're writing one now.

I think everyone should post their letters on here (with financials blanked out) which might inspire others to write also.

We're going to do/mention the following:
    • Address the letter to John Jones, Head of Cards (if he even exists)
    • Mention that a copy of the letter is being sent to the FOS
    • Explain that being expected to pay double the usual monthly payment is going to cause us hardship
    • Demand that our preferential rate is reinstated
    • Demand some form of compensation
