Citi gold Card - Direct Debit not taken

Options
Just received an email and text to say account is overdue, direct debit set up and money taken the previous 8 months but not taken this month.

Money in account and no problem with all other DD's.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Phoned the 08703338938 number waited nearly 10 minutes only to be told to phone a free phone number which doesn't exist 08007387788.

Back on the phone to them again!

    ARGH!

After being given the free phone wrong twice! I eventually got through to be told that is is their screw up that DD has not been taken and has happened on many accounts.

So why didn't they just tell me that in the text and email!

    Useless!

Just had the same thing! Can't get through on the regular number.
What was the correct 0800 number? What was the conclusion?
I've checked and they haven't taken DD, but has always been fine.
Their !!!!-up, so can I charge them? They would charge us!
Just to add, mine is the Shell Citi, so initially thought it was to do with the cashback being withdrawn and cross over to normal Citi card, but seems to be a bigger citi wide issue
  • I got a text saying " a payment on card ending #### is overdue. Amount overdue GBP#### Please pay this amount. Any questions? Call 08703338938.

I first called CitiBank automated phone system (number on the back of my card) to realise that my DD has not been paid for 2 months. So I panicked and paid it there and then.

I then phoned the number in the text which eventually put my through to an Asian man who said that he was very sorry about the situation and then he hung up???

I dont know what to think now - has my money Ive just paid even going to register, is the number in the text a real Citi bank number?

They have not requested the Direct Debit on a number of accounts, they will in time make the appropriate request, was told not to do anything at all.

Have been advised that there will be not impact to credit reporting but have requested letter confirming information provided in call.

They have not taken my debit which was due on the 29th dec, they have charged me a late payment fee and by the looks of it, removed my balance transfer rate as my interest charge on this statement has gone up!!

tried calling them but got sick of being on hold for ten minutes to speak to someone who can hardly understand me at the best of times.

Same thing here - I've just spoken to someone who confirmed they have been unable to collect any direct debits recently, but would take payments late once the problem is resolved.

I asked about charges, and was assured that there would be no late payment fee.

Just also received an email from Citi telling me the card had not been paid (it’s a Citi Shell Card) and was in Tesco after work doing my weekly shop, get to the check out and find my card had been blocked until the payment is made.

Am furious with them over this, this is not my doing, was told I could make a manual payment via the internet but why should I go out of my way - its making me interest at the moment in my account!

Was told that I would be able to use my card again once the balance was paid, when I asked how would I know it was paid I was simply told to keep phoning them!

Rather than sending me an email telling my i haven't paid could then have not sent an email say sorry, we have f*%k up and will give you notice on when we will debit the account.

Rather than phoning the 0870 number use the calling from outside the UK number - 0207158 0929 it's written on the back of the card in the top right (well it is on mine!)

Have just found this site after googling "Citi Cards direct debit".
Have suffered same problems previously reported. DD not taken; £12 late payment fee, etc, etc. Useless emails, texts, etc, several days after my initial query. Card has now been stopped until Citi can get round to sorting out their computer/software problem. Would you believe they blamed the Christmas holiday for this fiasco? I have had no problems with other DDs due at the end of Dec. I have offered to provide them with some IT consultancy for a system that works and this offer was duly noted by the Indian call centre lady! In the meantime, I will trawl around for an alternative card.
