Thanks Hidden. He went today but the place can't offer what he wants at the minute although they may be able to in the future- they're a new company.
I think Monday is more up his street and of course he's still applying to other things to line up other interviews. Networking networking networking.- DFD 4th July 2015

£10 made on ebay from 4 items. Some others finishing on Sunday.
NEED to find things to list this weekend- running low on inspiration of things that are not too heavy to post but might sell well!!
You're doing better than I am with ebay.I can't remember if I've sent you this thread? It's crazy what some people find to sell.
Hope your DH finds something soon. Uncertainty and waiting... urgh. But there will be something and it's brilliant he's getting interviews.Miggy

yeah the uncertainty is the killer. If I knew how long it'll be or how much he'd take home in a different job I could organise and plan and I love to do that!

So OH is now unemployed! Monday's interview wasn't great- he'd be working in a room with no windows, money wasn't great and he didn't get a good vibe from the place. He doesn't think he'll get offered it and he doesn't want it. I'm torn between thinking- good, I don't want you working in those conditions and a job is a job- just get one!
I've done his budget. He can exist for 2 more months, from end of Jan to end of March. This means I'll be working on the same budget with him contributing £400pcm guaranteed for Jan-Feb and Feb-March budgets. But this is really tight for him. We'll see how we go.
He has another interview on Thursday. He will have a list of things to do each day to keep a routine and structure and job hunt going.
So heads above water for now.
Also we've set our food budget at £50 a week for the two of us and pets for the duration of his unemployment. I've done an approved food order before this starts and our cupboards are medium stocked. It's aldi, markets, reduced and cheap items but I enjoy this so it's fine
Have £15 in bank and a few quid in purse. £40 from onepoll has cleared but been used on groceries.

It's good that you have such a grasp of your finances - it will really help you have control instead of reaching for credit cards. I wish your OH all the best in the job search, though I'm glad too that he isn't likely to have to work in the place he didn't like the feel of.
I agree about the uncertainty. If you could plan it would be easier. The AF shop is a good move though - so there is some planning you can do - and I know just what you mean about enjoying the cheap shopping. That's me too. I love reading the Old Style board for good ideas. And I think £50 will work well as long as you don't have huge animals to feed - just remember to put aside a small amount on cheaper weeks towards more expensive weeks when you buy washing powder, coffee, alcohol etc. (We tried the cheapest washing liquid at Mr T's and to my surprise it's good for nearly everything which saves us quite a bit).
Four days till your payday - you can do it!Miggy

2 days til payday. Lots of silly spending means I have no cash in my purse and only £5 in my bank account. In theory my MFYP £200 should arrive tomorrow but it's already accounted for in the sense I have HUGE outgoings this month.
OH is struggling to communicate like an adult and is reverting back to a stroppy, grumpy, taking no responsibility, having no drive TEENAGER. Not fun to live with. Looking forward to work during the days and gym in the early evenings- not a good sign!
Just deliberating how to manage our food shopping this month. I think we'll both take out £100 cash and keep in a purse to use for shopping trips.
I am running low on patience, tolerance, understanding, feeling like I'm the only one organising things and rising to the challenge, feeling like I'm having to constantly chivvy him along. I wish he was more gutsy, determined, energetic. All this moping and sulking and snapping is very unattractive.
Rant over.
