Oh this is great - the Boys brigade up here still have a 'bob a job' week and come to your house to collect leaves or weed your garden etc.
I gave them a whole pound last year each - there gonna get 5p per job next time. I'll get the whole house renovated for £1.50!
Should I contact trading standards about the 95p they over-charged me last year? Robbing kids!!
PMSL - I think you should ask them for a 'credit' for the difference, to go towards this years renovation works....that way you'll only need to spend 55p on them from this years' budget!;)0 -
Me too!
Actually thinking more about 'bob', what about the saying 'as bent as a 9 bob note'?
The least 'bob' for a note when I was a kid was 20 (20 bob = a £1 note), so where does that saying come from?
As there was never a 9 shilling note, the expression means something that isn't genuine. We all evolve - get on with it0 -

If you "can't be arsed" to take time to make your posts look like you care about your opinions, and that you think they're worthwhile, why should anyone take you seriously?
You write like a thicko, you'll get treated like a thicko. End of.
Worst of all, though, is that you're not dyslexic or have English as a second language - you're just lazy.

Yep, I know that, but I thought from the saying, that there were a ten bob note, which there never has been.
That probably doesn't make sense, but saying that, not much of what I say actually does!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

If that's your biggest gripe then why have you bothered complaining about the McDonalds advert? Surely you should be trying to rid the world of those who say 'would of' instead of 'would have'.
People, stop feeding the trolls...**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D
