Saintscouple - you'd be better linking the Sky, and the Blu-Ray (and TV if you can get an output) straight to the amp for better sound. You don't mention what kind of amp it is, but if it's a home cinema one it may have HDMI. Then what you do is sortof the other way around, you plug everything into the amp, then the amp goes into the TV.
Very often, even with HDMI going into a TV, then out, even optically, the sound goes down to 2.1 instead of the proper 5.1.

Sorry, I should have been more clear, the hifi i have ordered is a Philips MCM302 Micro Hifi which only has one Aux In (L/R) input.

I don't want to spread panic or alarm but you cant get Hi-Fi for £100.

sorry, not sure if this was directed at me or where the £100 came from, but i just wanted to know that if i connected the hifi via the scart in the tv would the sound come out of the hifi's speakers when watching either through the sky hd box, or blu-ray player?

I just haven't a clue with these techy things :o
