Be careful of turning up the headphone socket too high. Its quite possible to damage an amplifier doing it this way:idea:0

and along Rik's lines, please plug it into aux on your amplifier - the phono input on the back of an amp is for a record player, and far more sensitive than the others, you'll damage it with anything else apart from a record deck...0

You could break out the audio output from your scart with one of these, whilst (hopefully) maintaining the connection with your AV receiver.

I dont think it will, I think it will only take the sky audio signal:idea:0 -
may i ask just 1 question,
I'm looking to have the tv sound come out of the hifi speakers, and my tv has a similar set up, though my scart is free.
I already have a switchable scart to phono which i'm hoping to use to connect the 2 systems.
I already have a Sky HD, and blu-ray connected to the tv by hdmi.
My question is by connecting the hifi by scart to phono, will the sound come out of the speakers when watching either the sky hd, or blu-ray?
Apologies for the intrusion, just i ordered a hifi earlier today, and have only just discovered the lack of output on my tv....doh!0 -
Saintscouple - you'd be better linking the Sky, and the Blu-Ray (and TV if you can get an output) straight to the amp for better sound. You don't mention what kind of amp it is, but if it's a home cinema one it may have HDMI. Then what you do is sortof the other way around, you plug everything into the amp, then the amp goes into the TV.
Very often, even with HDMI going into a TV, then out, even optically, the sound goes down to 2.1 instead of the proper 5.1.0
