  • Evening all!

I know, I can hardly believe my luck with the hol - I'm certain he's going to change his mind any minute!! lol! I'm so excited because it's been 3 years since I've been on holiday and could really do with getting away for a break :D

Have been a bit productive with the MSE side of things today seeing as it's payday tomorrow and written down all the money that I know I have to pay out (rent, bills, savings for hol & next lot of bills etc) and what I have left for food, living, mothers day(!) etc is not very much :( is def gonna be a struggle

Yikes, can you bake your mum a cake? And make a card? Mine is getting a copy of Let's Knit magazine that I was given. I can't knit; she can. It's costing me nothing (other than postage, mum is 2 hours away from me) but she'll appreciate it.

  • Hi all, hope everyone is ok and looking forward to the weekend.

Niccatw: Yeah I could probs make the card, no baking skills though so I dont know about that one!! I think now we're all living separately my mum would just appreciate getting to spend time with me and my brother, so am just gonna have to think of something we can all do together on the cheap!

Went for a pub lunch today with people from work to celebrate one guy's new baby, was worried about the cost but I managed to get lunch and a drink for under a fiver so not too bad. Am really starting to worry about how I'm going to cope for the next month. It's not even the 1st yet so I've still got rent to come out and then I'll be left with practically nothing :(

There seems to be a mega shortage of mystery shops in my area at the moment too which isn't very helpful!

Am looking forward to Saturday though - am going for a massage! And before anyone asks, it was an xmas prezzie so no spends! :D I can't wait. After all the crap I've had this last month I could really do with it!!

It will be good to have the massage as a treat- will help you face up to a thrifty month!

  • Yeah definitely! I am busy trying to get myself sorted now - have booked up 4 mystery shops so far for the first 2 weeks of March, hopefully some more will come along too.

Really should be working but am having a slightly extended lunch break :rotfl:

I've never tried mystery shopping. Maybe I should look at doing some in holidays!

  • Morning everyone! I am just at one of the many train stations I have to visit today to get to my massage! Am soo looking forward to it and will need it after this journey - 3 changes!! That's one of the worst things about not driving, a half hour drive is turned into 1hour 45mins of trains and freezing my butt off on platforms!

Am in a good mood this morning though! Was having another look over the snowball calculator yesterday and found the bit where you can add all the transactions that go in and out of your accounts. So I spent some time jotting in everything for all my cc's and overdrafts for the last 6 weeks since I first did the snowball thing and it automatically updates it for you.
So, it now reckons my debt free date is June 2015 so I have already knocked off 3 months!! It may not seem like much because its still an age away but I am so excited! I've hardly made a change really, the only things I can think of is the mystery shopping bringing in some extra cash (although I do seem to spend a fair bit of that!) And the £365 in 365 to pay off my A&L overdraft. I really must go over to that thread and thank them! Its amazing what a difference small things can make!

Ok so maybe I am getting overexcited but my point is that if I've already knocked 3 months off in the last 6 weeks with not much of a change in habits, imagine how much closer I can bring that elusive DFD when I really put my mind to it!

Woooohooo! Maybe this was just the motivation I needed!:j

Yay KP, that sounds great! And you have motivated me to go back to the snowball calculator and see if I can find the bit you are talking about! Thank you!

Wow, lucky you. The mystery shops in my area always seem to book up so quickly - and definitely before I get the chance to check my emails :(. But when I do do them, I definitely see that cash as pocket money for me rather than debt-busting :).

Good luck with the train journeys! And enjoy your massage!

Hope you enjoyed the massage. Great news that your DFD has reduced already. Well done!

  • Morning all! My massage was lurrrvely ta, wish I could get them all the time! It seems I'm getting a bit of a dodgy back from sitting at a desk all day every day so she def had to work at me! :rotfl:

Well today's plan is to go off to my brother's and his girlfriend's new flat for lunch and dvd's, so should be good! (and free! :j)

niccatw - I have really been struggling to get mystery shops too recently, am just lucky I have a Blackberry so I get all emails straight away and can also get on all the websites at work. Otherwise I'd have no chance!

Hope you all have a nice lazy Sunday :)
