Or another thing I've just remembered. I had a filling fall out a couple months ago which I've just left because I haven't been able to afford to get it fixed, so could do that too! :D

Ooh or another thing! For my birthday I got some vouchers from work for JD Sports because I wanted a new pair of Reetone Trainers, but have not been able to make up the rest of the dosh yet. Could be a god thing for getting me back into the swing of exercise too....(any excuse to spend! :D)
    2019 will be my year!!
  • Welcome back and eek!

If I'm honest with you I'd probably start with the filling. I broke a filling and because I left it an infection got into the tooth which meant I had to have a root canal which cost me an eye-watering amount of money. Definitely get it checked if you can. :)

  • Hi Isla, thanks yeah I think you're right I should get it seen to really. I might try and budget for it out of this month's wages without touching the £150, but then at least I have that to fall back on if it does screw me over. :p

I am slowly starting to get back into the DFW mindset (albeit slowly!). Today I had a quick root through some of the boxes I haven't unpacked yet and found a few things I can Ebay.

I have also started doing the survey sites again - got a right shock when I realised I have over £40 on Valued Opinions! How didI forget about that one!? That one is definitely being left for Xmas money though, but I think that might be Tesco vouchers for food & booze rather than prezzie money. Anyone have any idea how far ahead I should order the vouchers to get them in plenty of time?

  • Budget for it if you can because honestly it's not worth ending up spending hundreds of pounds on something that you could have perhaps got fixed for tens which is exactly what I did. Such an idiot.

Oooh well done on the finds in the boxes, eBaying is always good :)

  • Yeah you are right Isla, I have left it long enough! Hopefully it will only need minimal work on it as it is.

2 days to go until payday! :j Can't flaming wait this month! Not just because I don't have a penny to my name at the mo but because this month I'm actually going to start sorting things out and paying off the damn debt!

Mystery shopping has been v thin on the ground recently so need to scrape every penny I can!
    2019 will be my year!!
  • Oh man I feel your pain. This payday can't come soon enough!

Have you got a plan for starting to tackle the debt again?

  • Whoop 1 day til payday! :j

I have redone my snowball and upped the amount to pay off each month seeing as I have a little extra in the wages each month now. Also with a bit of planning, I have figured how I can transfer money into each of my accounts every month to cut down on underfunding & overdraft fees. I haven't been getting any fees for Abbey, but A&L I have been getting charged £5 a month for using the overdraft (bargain!) and £5 underfunding fee (not so much a bargain). But now I have sorted that one out I have cut the fees in half which will be a huge help.

And already these 2 changes have made a big difference - DFD has gone down to Jan 2015! :T

Just got to make sure I don't spend on the Natwest Credit Card - has been tough the last few months though and I just keep maxing it out to the limit each time :o Must resist!!

The main problem I have is my Halifax overdraft. It charges £1 a day for using the overdraft, and as the balance is £1250.00 there is no chance of this being cleared any time soon. It is my most expensive debt and needs to go! My first step has been to go to Payroll and get my wages paid into this account, in the hope that I will have at least one day of being in the black to try and save £1! However, I think I am about £30 short of this amount each month so need to find some extra dough from somewhere.

Also, according to the snowball I should be getting rid of this one first, which will involve having to leave money in there at the end of each month. Not an easy feat when this is the account I will be using for everything! More planning needed methinks.....
    2019 will be my year!!
  • Yay well done on the new DFD :T

Hmm the overdraft one is tricky. Can you adjust your planning so you knock a little bit off it each month? Is the overdraft costing you more each month in charges than interest on the CC? If it is you'll probably find it's going to be cheaper to focus your energy on clearing the overdraft now then tackling the CC later especially if you're going to be saving a lot in monthly charges by clearing it. Does that make sense?
