I hear you... I grew up with parents that didn't cook at all and it took me a long time after I left home (when I was about 15) to pick it up. When I left I moved countries, so it was a bit far to call up mum for one of the few recipes she did know
I think the only way to learn is to experiment - pull a few recipes off the internet and give it a try, watch youtube videos for things you don't understand and eventually you'll get a handful of good meals you can rustle up to impress the GF with! Destroying a meal isnt a disaster, should only cost you a few quid, but never learning to cook will cost you thousands of quid over the years.
And let me tell you, the ladies love a man who can cook :AMortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000Debt free as of 1 October, 2010

Onwards and forwards!
Never got round to making the stir-fry... as my mum popped round with some chicken jalfrezi and rice!!!

At work already with lunch again from home. Day 2.
Although I was horrifed to find this morning that the pack of bagels I bought for my breakfast this week had been eaten at the bottom and a chunk taken out of the bottom two bagels.
I noticed the hole in the pack yesterday but assumed I'd just put my finger through the plastic...but no, obviously a nice little mouse (?rat?) was nibbling on the somewhere in Sainsburys before I bought them! :rotfl:
Anyway, think I have a couple of sachets of porridge at home to make up the extra 2 breakfasts this week.

Morning All
First day back at work for me after the holidays so I'm in on this challenge please. A couple of months ago I was doing really well taking in left overs then I got a bit lax so need a bit more focus!
I've got ham and mustard butties today but I'm also taking in a couple of pot noodles (2 for £1 in iceland!) to keep in my desk drawer incase I forget my lunch. Should help that we've just moved offices before christmas and now don't have a shop within walking distance so the urge to go buy chocolate should remain unfulfilled!

I found I got a bit hungry yesterday afternoon, resisted the urge to go buy anything, but have bought 2 nana's today, and 2 left over mince pies... that way I can still have something left in the afternoon. Fingers crossed I'll get the balance right. I walked to work and home yesterday as well, so doing a lot more exercise, so its all a learning curve.
Someone was asking about couscous... I find a quick way to add flavour is using stock - so just add a stock cube to the hot water.
Good Luck all!Clicking, searching and surveying my way to a life of debt freedom!
