I intend to bring lunch in every day and spend less than £1 each day on other stuff from the canteen e.g. cans of diet coke, tea, crisps etc.
Thanks:T
could you not save even more money by buying a multipack from the supermarket and taking it in with you? and it will help you avoid temptation:)know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
count me in for this one!! I'm going for a no spend month!
I've just started a new job and we have a sandwich man who comes into our office everyday and i nearly always end up buying something even if i have my lunch with me! We also have a really good kitchen so i have no excuse for not taking my lunch in with me. I'm saving up for my own flat so need to keep this up for a few months!:TAug £10 a day £0/£10000 -
I probably spend about £1 on lunch every day. That's because I function better with a warm meal at lunch time so I either batch-cook on a Sunday or collect dinner leftovers, put the food in 5 plastic containers and freeze. Every morning, I have to remember to take a container out otherwise I don't eat !
Additional benefit: I have to be away from my desk for 20 min every day.Keep calm and carry on0 -

Do you know, you're right - I can resist everything except temptation. Our canteen charges ......65p for a can:eek: and I'll admit I get lazy sometimes and just pay it. No more!
If I can't see any deals in the supermarkets I'll pop into Costco and pick up a tray of 24 - usually good price in there for what I like. It'll tie in with my attempt at 20 NSDs this month as well.

And day one is in the fridge, leftovers...
Slow roasted lamb, roast tats and loads of steamed veg. And an orangina bottle of milk for my coffees.
Bit worried about forgetting to take it in so I'm left my car keys in the bag as well!

I would like to join, i work in a school and because of not being organised end up buying my lunch every day which comes to approx £20 per week with cans of pop from canteen. Starting diet when i go back tomorrow, have been to home and bargain and bought several packs of flavoured water which were 49p for 6. Just need to make some sweet potato and onion soup today which should last several days. My aim is to make January a no spend month on food. We are going to France in Aug with caravan so worked out if i do this every month till then saving £80 per month it would be £560 to spend on our holidays.Jan lunch to work days 0/200

today looks like it will be a success, bought my lunch in and am far too cold to venture outside for anything different!
A colleague asked if i wanted to go to lunch tomorrow, but i said i was bringing stuff in to eat and she's doing the same, we're still having lunch but not going out for it!Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Jan has 20 working days for me and I can easily spend over £5/day in the canteen alone. So I've given myself a Petty Cash fund of £5/working day, but I am hoping to save as much of it as possible each month, so January I am going to try for 3 no buying lunch days per week, that should also tie in nicely with my 3 NSD/Week Challenge too!!
