    Hello, can I sign up?

    I find food my biggest expense! Currently around £15 a week :eek:

    I'm going on the Special K diet for the month (it might make up for Xmas excess!!) but buying a meal in my office's canteen once a week for £1.20 (soup) to £2.45 (veggie meal).

    Thinking about getting a blender & making my own soup which will certainly help the cause!

    I make a great non-blend veggie soup;

    need: turnip, 2 carrots, 2 leeks, half bag lentils & veggie stock/2 veg stock cubes

    soak lentils overnight if needed
    rinse lentils then cover with cold water and bring to boil
    simmer for 30-40mins until they are completely mushy add extra water whenever it getslow
    peel and chop carrots/turnip and chop leeks. Add to the lentils with your stock (about 2 pints) simmer for 30 mins until veg soft and add extra water if it is looking too chunky.

    I often have a big bowl of soup for dinner. I find the above makes 6 servings and lasts 3 days without the fridge. You will need a massive pot!

    I'm going to go for no spend.

    What I have for lunch will be bought in from home & will be included in the weekly shop.

    I've done this so far this week & am already seeing savings. Used to spend at least £2.99 a day on lunch food & this didn't include impulse buys I used to come back with. :o

    I was off sick yesterday :( So ate my soup at home and have bought lunch with me today. Got leftover christmas cheese and biscuits, a yoghurt, 2 nana's and some ww biscuits. Not a NSD as I got the bus in today and stopped at poundland to stock up on ww biscuits and medicine for poorly Mr Sibles.

    But still, really pleased I signed up for this challenge!!
    Also, I haven't bought coffee at all this year - I was a massive starbucks addict. Been making it instead... tomorrow will be a big challenge as I meet the girls in starbucks on a friday, but i think i'm gonna have to go cold turkey - if I can get through january without buying one at all I'll be so proud!

    Today took in bargain bin risotto which was 99p and a few rocket leaves. 4/4 and day off tomorrow so first week sorted! :j

    When I say £1.10 I don't mean I am spending that at work? I see people are putting themselves down for 'no spend' which is what I am doing I just have £1.10 as my value limit otherwise if you are spending lots on groceries and taking them in then it may be no spend at work but lots at Sainsburys! So I have restricted my lunch value ot £1.10.

    Hope that makes sense??!!
