    Mortgage-free Glee!
Good luck! I would focus on clearing any debts like credit cards etc first before moving to the mortgage!

  • Thanks Alex, i'm hopping hubby's Job Seekers will e back paid to when his sick notes ran out in October, this would also mean 4 months back pay on the mortgage PPI - he's going in to see them on Tuesday, really hope they do back pay it as it's quite a lot of £££'s

I'm also due my bonus from work at the end of March (should find out how much at the end of this month), so hopefully with that as well the majority of the overdraft should be paid off. Although there is a pair of shoes I have my eyes on - but I will be good and resist ;)

It just feels better to be paying some off the mortgage because I know the impact it has long term - I think if it were to be put towards the overdraft it would just get spent

    Oct 2011 - Overdraft £7,000  / Mortgage £115,295
    Dec 2014 - Overdrafts 15,000 / Credit Cards 16,000 / Loans 25,000 / Cars 18,000 / Mortgages 232,500
  • It's been another few busy weeks at work and I don't feel like i've had much time to myself, I seem to be working 60 hours minimum (If only I got paid overtime!) as well as doing 6 hours a week at college - how do the rest of you busy people manage to find time to keep your diaries up to date?

I've still not found out how much my bonus will be from work - really tempted by http://www.net-a-porter.com/intl/product/48417 and http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/97062 but we've been told only £2k of our bonus will be paid in cash so after the tax man has taken his bit there wouldn't be much left to go towards the overdraft

Hubby has all the forms for the backpay on his JSA so i've filled those in - hopefully we'll hear something soon

    Hi Laura!
I've just stumbled on your thread and think you're doing really well ! (Gorgeous shoes! I couldn't justify it but if you're getting a bonus....!!)

Oops not posted for a while again.

:j:jHubby has been offered a job which he starts next Tuesday, so should be back to having 2 wages coming in within a few weeks :j:j

We're still nwaiting for hubby's back pay on his Job Seekers - apparently it can take 7 weeks to process, just hope him getting a job so no longer recieving JSA doesn't affect it as the mortgage PPI can't be sorted until the JSA back pay is sorted:mad:

The mortgage should drop under £120k when the payment goes out on the 1st April :j:j and when all of the above is sorted we can really get the overpaymnts increased

I'm feeling quite productive today, have done a meal plan for the next 2 weeks :T I seem to be throwing things away and buying fresh food when I have a freezer full of food anyway

Sunday lunch is cooked, just need to eat when hubby gets home

Going to put a couple of things on ebay as well, things that have been sat in a cupboard ready to take a photo of for a few months

And I've done 2 loads of washing (as well as the 2 yesterday) so my washing baskets are empty :j

I've had a bad week for spending this week, I broke my hand luggage bag going to Edinburgh so bought a new one (and matching laptop bag:eek:) for £50

Then I seem to keep seeing things for when I go on holiday next week, 3 new bikinis from next, oops

And a few vest tops, I've got loads but i've lost a bit of weight recently so some of my clothes are now too big  So much for a cheap holiday

On the positive side hubby started his new job this week :j but still not heard from the job centre about his back pay of job seekers allowance - apparently it takes 7 weeks

Off to put my expenses through from last week which I forgot to do in the week :)

  • Did you ever buy those shoes? I took a look at them and they did look lovely, but holy moly! I would have broken my ankles or wrecked my knees if I'd ever tried sticking those on my feet! I think I missed a few 'girl' lessons when I was growing up. The 'how to wear 9 inch heels' being one of them :D

I didn't by those as they didn't have my size, but I bought a similar, equally high stiletto pair :rotfl:

    Hi laurasavon,

Just thought I'd post to say congratulations on the dents you've made in the past year!! I'm just starting my own mfw and am a similar age but with a bit bigger mortgage and doing it alone :o So aiming to be mortgage free in 10 years when I'm 35 so will be watching your diary with interest!

Good luck to your husband with his new job... hopefully that will make a big difference to your goals!
