At Tesco you have 20 minutes to return chilled/frozen stuff from the time on your receipt so they can claim it can go back in fridge/freezer and be resold.

that should be wrong, it should be 20 minutes from the moment the product has left the chiller/freezer, all supermarkets work to the 20 min cold chain

£8.50 for two pies is rather expensive considering M&S have the 2 to dine deal PLUS a bottle of wine for only £10!

theres food, and then thers M & S food;)

If every supermarket followed the 20 min cold chain to the letter they would never sell any chilled or frozen goods as there is no way to tell how long they have been out of the chilled/frozen area. That might sound daft but if you think about it it is true.

The only time they know how long stuff has been out is if they are moving the stock.

Good point, a customer may take it out of the chiller and then wander round the store for half an hour.

Glad you pointed that out. Next time I take something out of the chiller and then wander round the store for 30 minutes, I'll go back to the chiller, put the item back and get a different one. :D

at least you would be putting it back, and not just dumping it on a shelf with the crisps at the other end of the store:rolleyes:

Next time you go to M&S and you have time on your hands take random chilled items and as they scan them say "Oh, I thought that was a pound", then they will send one of their till ferrets to check the price.

When they come back and say it costs 5 pounds, say it's lucky I checked as last time I was lumbered with 2 pies for £8.50 that I could not return!

I would have great fun in doing that!! Over and over and over again until I am banned! Or until I have got my £8.50 back in light entertainment.

PS : Bonus points are awarded if you manage to get the lady who refused the refund you to be the till ferret!

You could just open the packaing and say it tastes really bad. They will happily refund you if you are not happy with the product ;)

  • Thanks to everyone who as commented on my thread. Have been on school residential so have not been able to post. I took your good advice and have sent a letter to Mr Marks and Mrs Spencer - no reply to date. However to add salt into the wound it appears I was over charged for the pies - they should have been £5.99 I have just seen the self same pies with the price on shelf !! I sent bar code and receipt with letter so will see what transpires.
