Returning Food When Still In Store

Thanks - didn't think about the temperature but you are quite right - however had I seen the price when they went through checkout and I had asked the cashier to remove them I am sure that would have been ok and they would have had no idea how long I had been shopping ? No pies for me for a while - bread and jam - Ive spent all the housekeeping !!!0
-
Forgot to say the pies were individual !! Extortion !!!!!0

Write a letter to the head office explaining you shop there regularly & hadn't even left the store A few minutes to write a letter & you may be lucky & get sent a voucher!:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0

I agree the price was pretty extortionate but let's face it, it's a pretty cheap lesson in always checking prices, sell-by dates, etc. Just chalk it up to experience, learn from it and draw a line.0

I have to agree with the OP here regarding M&S. Went into get a few bits yesterday, and so many SEL were missing. Luckily it was stuff that I could do without so left them. Maybe if you continue to shop there, put the stuff that you're unsure of the price of to one side and get them to check it b4 u actually purchase it?4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Yes, I would do this too. Nothing ventured etc etc. If nothing else it may encourage them to put clearer parameters on their food return poinicy ie within ten minutes of being rung through the checkout or something like that.Val.0 -
if you where unsure ask the cashier to check the price b4 they put the rest of the sopping through
well at least you wont make the same mistake again!! hth0 -
they cost £8.50 for two.
Good grief. Reminds me why I don't shop at M&S. I had a shock in Waitrose, but it was only cat biscuits - shelf label said £3, cashier charged £12. Went to CS they refunded me no problem - seems my packet had walked along the shelf to the wrong place. Once the cashier has hit the total button you really have to go to CS, or risk causing a massive delay to the queue while they summon a supervisor.0 -
I wish more shops would have those self-service price-check scanners. Apart from abroad, I've seen them in a couple of Tesco stores here, but even those now seem to have broken and never been fixed...0

At Tesco you have 20 minutes to return chilled/frozen stuff from the time on your receipt so they can claim it can go back in fridge/freezer and be resold.
That wasn't true when I tried to return/ swap a sandwich I'd just bought (picked up a meaty one which was on veggie shelf)
I got the same response as the OP - 'can't exchange as you may have tampered with it'. I just left it on the CS desk and walked away. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!
