  • 5 pounds off for me this week. Very pleased with that after a bit of a difficult week with not feeling well. Takes me to 19 pounds on this challenge or 70 pounds (5 stone) in 13 weeks.

Got a very negative earful last night. OH 'told' me I had to lose another 2 stone before holiday, which is in 4 weeks. I said I was looking to lose 1 stone in that time and got the scornful 'what a loser' look. I then said I was looking forward to eating on holiday. I've decided to try to be careful. Whatever I choose for breakfast (it's an apartment so will be me buying from the supermarket), then we don't normally have lunch so I might take some CD bars with me and then a light dinner such as a chicken salad or something similar in the evening. I don't drink during the day so it will be water until the evening and it's usually 'we're only going out for a couple' so I won't be having more than 1 or 2 and I'll probably stick to vodka with diet coke or rose wine. I know I will put something on because I've only been on 400-odd calories over the last 13 weeks but it will fall off easily when I go back on CD on my return.

His reply was 'you aren't eating on holiday'. I smiled sweetly and said yes I was, but he was adamant I wasn't. Apparently I will put on loads of weight on holiday and then put even more on when I'm back. I said not - I have it all planned. I then got a whinging tirade of 'oh, you have to have everything planned, don't you, down to the enth degree'.

    'Yep' I grinned. That's why I know I won't put loads on when I get back ;)

I put on all the weight I lost and then some more over the summer holidays.

I caught sight of myself yesterday and oh boy that was depressing.

Buffy I could have written this word for word. I'm shocked at how much weight I've put on over the summer and tbh honest it is a total revelation how wild I've gone.

I actually think I've been worse than Christmas!!!!!!

Armed with this info maybe I will be more careful next year?
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.
  • Hi Louise - can I re-join your club please? Shaggy recommended this thread when I was talking on the Giving Up Alcohol thread about trying to lose weight and once I arrived here, I realised I was a regular on here ages ago. So - can you please put me down for 7lb - we go on holiday in 7 weeks so if I can lose at least 1lb per week, I'll be a happy bunny. I usually get weighed on a Friday so will post my results then. I've just joined a new gym so I'm very motivated - I start a new job in a few weeks so want to look my best for that - fresh start and all that. I've stopped drinking and really want to sort myself out once and for all - get back to my target weight, eat and drink healthy stuff only, get more sleep and generally be the best I can be, after all you only live once. Bye for now everyone and have a great Sunday xx

gosh BB 5 stone is truly amazing!!!!! Why dont you just bury the hatchet with OH, I mean it would make life an awful lot easier for you.... provided it was buried... with as much force as you can muster straight in his head!!!!!!!!! you are doing amazingly, such negativity isnt justified, i'm glad you have all your friends to remind you what an amazing person you are.

  • cheers Lou (and Pania - happy birthday! :D ). I was also told that I 'have' to get to a size 10. I said I didn't want to be that thin and with my shape/height, a 10 would be very unlikely anyway. I was then told 'ok, a 12'. So I politely informed him that I am choosing what weight I want to be and the dress size I want to be. I said that as I am hour glass shaped (I have a very defined waist in comparison to my chest/hips) that would be why I didn't want to be a size 10 as it wouldn't be my 'shape'.

Hour glass? He said......you're not hour glass shaped........you're orange shaped........he said and then drew the outline of an orange on the table with his fingers.......

Days? Numbered? You bet ya ;)

Happy birthday P, and BB you're doing fab - what a git speaking to you like that.

Still no weight loss here :( I've upped the exercise, had a day this week not eating, OH even bought me a big (family sized) bar of chocolate that I resisted, so feeling v unhappy about still having a gazillion chins and bellies.

PS edit to add STS in red for Louise

BB you're doing great. He knows it too and is crapping himself, why else do you think he is throwing all of his venom at you? He knows your confidence will grow with every pound you shed. The last thing he wants is for you to get to a size 10, in fact he wants you to fail totally and gain everything back you've lost. Control my lovely friend, he thinks he had it and is terrified of losing it.
