Will brown vinegar work on periwinkle or will I have to use brute force as usual.
Then God looked over all he had made, and said, "I can see idiots from my house".

I've used that before to rid my garden of a million tonnes of brambles - it works really well, but will kill anything in it's path...!!
I didn't pay anywhere near as much as that though - I got mine from Trago Mills (have a look in your discount stores first) for about £4.
Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??

I'm sick of weeding so I'm looking for a weed killer too. I don't have cats but some pass through my garden so I wouldn't want to hurt them with the Jeyes Fluid. So, I think I'll give the vinegar a go. Do I use it neat? The weeds are on a paved area. Arrrghhhhh!

I've just been tidying my garden prior to the long winter that's been predicted. I had weeds growing in the cracks of my patio (Horsetail!?) so i squashed the leaves with my foot before spraying with some Roundup XL (i think). Nothing has happened yet but it has only been a couple of days. When i used the same stuff on a wild area at the end of the garden covered in nettles and thistle (wasn't gonna pull those out by hand!!) it worked a treat. After a couple of weeks the area was brown and ready to dig over. Roundup's always worked for me!

Just to point out that it's now illegal to use Jeyes fluid as previously suggested on this thread - the license for it has been changed.

That explains why the jeyes fluid pathclear stuff i looked at the other week stated does not contain jeyes fluid.

Did make me wonder, Another health & safety issue? Or someone has shares in a rival company & wants to see
    his shares increase in value?

This is something i have used myself and had excellent results.
For the use on paths, patios, round the edges of the house - you know them that grow practically up the wall of the house awkward to get at places.
The other thing about using this it also cleans the flags where the birds poop too.

Just use Jeyes fluid and water it down and can be put in a spray type gun or watering can - but don't use these for anything else, which you won't as you will need to use them another time or next year.
It does also deter creepy crawlies from getting in the house.

A tin of Jeyes fluid will go along way much cheaper than buying weed killers.

    Er, that was in 2004!

However, I'm reliably informed that Pat, after a bit of bother with his eyesight, went to Specsavers, took early retirement on an enhanced pension and went to live in the Seychelles.

Over on another thread, someone's complaining about Jess, pooing around their washing line, so it's not all happy endings, I'm afraid. :(

You aren't allowed to use Jeyes Fluid in that way anymore - it's illegal.

Due to EU regulations on testing chemicals certain household and garden chemicals have been banned for particular uses or removed from sale.

Most of the time this due to the manufacturer refusing to do testing on whether the chemical is safe for that particular use due to the expense involved.

While you may be upset with EU interference it's actually about ensuring that the environment is safe i.e. stopping things going into our rivers, drinking water that you wouldn't want there.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p
