If you have broad weeds in grass pour a little salt into the centre of them and they will die.

    how dya know?
  • I have recently used Roundup and can confirm that it works exceedingly slowly. I have now misted the area I want to clear starting from 2 weeks ago. Hardly anything has been killed, including dandelions and periwinkle and even grass!

Does brown vinegar work on bindweed? Got loads coming up! Can you plant in the area where you use the vinegar?
  • I use the off brands of the chemical in roundup. Much cheaper, and it does work. You need to make sure it does not rain for a day or two after application. Also it works better if the temp is at least 70 degrees. That being said, I use this much less than in the past. The chemical in these weed killers is very bad and becoming widespread throughout the environment. I use a hoe / weeder much more now which is good exercise, but there are places like along the several hundred feet of fence line we have where mechanical methods are just not practical.

According to the instructions on my steamer/wallpaper stripper you can use this to kill weeds, but will this only work on young ones just coming through or will it also kill off some of the more established ones?

  • A word of warning concerning the use of Jeyes Fluid - I was told by a vet that it can poison animals that absorb moisture through their paws e.g. cats. So, be careful please.

Can I bump this please? Seems appropriate with the way many folk are now attempting to grow their own now....
