dankosheemo wrote: »Oh pip, that's awful - sorry to hear that. I agree with igiveup though, there's loads of fab advice and support out there. Will you be working your notice? If so, your employer must give you 'reasonable' time off paid if you have any interviews etc. Get chatting some agencies as well and get your name on the books as they do a lot of the leg work for you on the job front. Keep us posted and you know we're all here to help!
xx
Yes this reasonable time off for interviews can be a big help. On my first redunancy (in 1988) we really milked that in a big way. The management didn't give a toss as they were losing their jobs too so no-one was interested in asking for proof of interviews.
On one of my "interviews", went down the pub and bumped into my boss. Seeing a bit of alarm on my face, he called me over, bought me a drink, and told me that he was having an "interview" too. The beauty of it was that the more time we had off for interviews, the more overtime the people on the other shift got to cover. During the three month notice period, we developed an interview rota. We always had more interviews on the busier days because that meant certain overtime. I earnt more money in the last three months of being there than I had in the previous nine.0 -

Morning all,
Pippo - sorry to hear your news. Make sure and take advantage of any exit schemes you get offered, in my work people being made redundant get career advisers etc. Beef up your CV and create more than one depending on the roles you're applying for (One job-based, one skills-based maybe) If you're in a trade union at work, make sure that you get their advice. *hugs*
