I live in a tiny terraced house with a yard, and usually manage to grow tomatoes indoors and some herbs and lettuce. I grow peas, carrots and onions in containers by the door. I have one of those plastic greenhouses, present from sister, to try this year.

Re: cats, they are a BIG problem round here, but I find that chucking used coffee grounds down helps (and it saves on rubbish) My sister has a plant in her garden called a coleus, that she reckons keeps cats away.

I have a large back garden but got it landscaped a few years ago and there's hardly anywhere to grow veggies in now!! I have a patio area tho with loads of tubs in - I've never grown veggies before just flowers/shrubs and my clematis which I love lol I tried potatoes last year and had quite a few pounds from them so am defo doing them again this year.

Re bl00dy cats :mad::mad: my front garden is just a giant cat litter tray to the gits over the road who have 7 bl00dy cats!!!!! I planted loads of plants 2 years ago and the only things that have survived cat pee is my miniature conifers!!!
One of the things that I've used which the cats don't seem to like is olbus oil - I put it on teabags and put it round the plants but you have to keep doing it every couple of days!!!
Sometimes I'm tempted to bag all the cat sh*t and throw it over aforementioned neighbours fence!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :p:rotfl:

It's not that great actually - 22.5% on 'own brand' stuff and 12.5% on everything else. BUT when they have the £5 No7 vouchers that they're doing at the moment, it means you can get the day / night moisturisers for under £1 each. :money:

...and the double discount days are not to be sniffed at! i don't work for boots but one of my friends does - they're a couple of times a year if i remember correctly. i would love to work there! :D:p

Er last year the potatoes withered, rosemary, thyme and mint were infested with green fly and the garlic sprouted but didn't even root properly. About the only thing that is working is the compost heap.

Re the greenfly I think I need to attract ladybirds which I think means planting certain companion plants.

I was surprised the herbs got infested as I thought they were pretty robust against greenfly.

    I'll try again though.

I was reminded on another thread that I have mung beans in cupboard and no idea what to cook with them so I will try sprouting those. Not sure if you can eat the whole lot or just the sprouting part.

That is exactly the same as my veg garden :o I think I am going to have a go again this year though :)

    Hello everyone

Well done on clearing the card MrsInvisible :T and congratulations everyone on such a fantastic total! Looks like we are well on course to the half million this year!

My PAD for today is £30 to A&L, I've been neglecting them recently :rotfl:Must go and sort out my siggy too.

I feel rotten this afternoon, have had a sore throat building up all day and now it's on fire... I reckon my voice will be gone tomorrow and it's not a good time, my groups all have coursework to finish so it's crazy at the moment! Any tried and tested remedies other than my usual ginger, honey and lemon?

I tried to grow veg in pots last year, I tried tomatoes, lettuce, and chillis. It kind of worked but I had so many slugs and greenfly and things that I just couldn't get rid off, it kind of put me off eating them :o All the rest of my family are really green fingered and I'm really not!

OK off to update numbers and things now xx
Ths signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it... :o

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:As a cat owner myself i also get annoyed with other peoples cats. My cat has been trained from a kitten to only go in our garden or her litter tray. She very rarely goes outside because shes a scaredy (sp?) cat, and she never leaves the garden. But it really annoys me when other peoples cats do their business in our garden.
