Depending on your excess, it may not be worth it to claim.

About 2 years ago a drunk man threw himself in front of OHs car when he had an arguement with his girlfriend  his head cracked off the windscreen and OHs insurance told him with his excess it wasnt worth him claiming. Luckily OH has some friends who work in garages, so managed to get one without paying labour.

    How annoying for you though!!

Do any of you have an emergancy fund? I dont know what to do, pay off credit card and loan with every penny i can or keep a bit now for like my mot in March and then after it pay it off? Could always pay off credit card(£440 ish) then when mot is due put it on the card...if i need to get a van as a replacement il be stuck though?

Normally I would say pay off the card and borrow again later if needed. However, in recent times, many card companies have developed a habit of reducing credit limits without much warning or even cancelling accounts completely leaving people up sh*t creek if they need a bit of money. Personally, I would build a fund as a war chest and start paying off later. That is my intention too when I am able. Financially it may cost more but it's not as bad as being left with no money and no credit in an emergency.
