I was pleased with it too. The only problem was the backlight which has already been mentioned which I thought was pretty important in a bedside clock. I suppose if that doesn't bother you then it's a good buy.

(puts on pedant environmentalist techie hat) DAB radios seem to need much much more power than conventional radios too which bothers me slightly.

Yes, because there is a lot of digital processing going on. But the power consumption is decreasing - you can get pocket ones with claimed 24 hour battery life now.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.

Bush are not exacly a quality brand, and a normal warranty only lasts one year, so its hardly suprising that they wouldn't take it back. Sorry it broke, but if you want quality you have to pay for a quality brand.

I think I can beat Martin's price challenge on the tip email!!

Here's a Digihome DAB radio for £29.98 from Maplin with alarm clock and LCD display

http://!!!!!!!.com/rqkxw (this is NOT a referral link)

No idea what it's like, but I know that Digihome is a brand that fronts budget DVD, freeview and VCR machines.

Buy something else in the sale, take the total to over £30 and you get free P&P!

Plus, there's 3% back from Qudico, also vouchers available for another £3 off £50 spend.

There's lots of good stuff in the sale, and if you haven't tried Maplin I recommend them heartily. A must for gadget fans and promotion lovers!

    Good luck!

    Steve

I received the I-Tech Dab cube radio free with a PAYG mobile from O2. I would say that it's worth no more than £35. How that Amazon seller expects to get over £80 for it i don't know.

The most annoying thing about the radio is like a previous poster stated if you turn the volume down to it's lowest, it doesn't mute and on my particular model it's too loud at night to have as background ambient sound when the volume is supposed to be muted!

Considering this model was a free gift with a £30 PAYG mobile phone I think you get an idea of the quality. For £35 it's fine but don't be mislead by the £80 seller on Amazon.
  • Bought a Mikomi FM/DAB radio from Argos yesterday, £29.95 reduced from £49.95. Earphone socket, mains only, 8 presets. Haven't tried FM but DAB very good, and we are in a supposedly dodgy area for DAB. Also has an alarm, snooze etc..

    Mikomi DRF 350X DAB/FM Radio., 500/3813
    Was £49.99 now £29.99

Funny you should mention this, I went to Comet earlier to pick up one of the Itech's, but were out of stock. Determined to get a DAB radio, I headed to Argos and bought the Mikomi too. Again, I'm in a dodgy area but having had this up and running for the last 2 hours, it works brilliantly.

Is it stereo? I can't see the point in buying a mono DAB set.

Talking of DAB cube clocks - my daughter bought me a Bush DAB cube/alarm radio 2 years ago when we lived in London. A few months ago, the clock up and died, totally. When contacting the manufacturer about it, they said that as it was out of guarantee there was nothing they could do (i.e. shirking their responsibilities). As it was a gift, my daughter did not retain a receipt and in any event, the store where it was purchased is in London and we now live 170 miles away so it's not really economical to spend bus/train fare to take it all the way down there and argue the toss. I won't be getting any more DAB radios in the near future (and certainly not ones made by Bush). It cost nigh on £90 - what a waste of money. It wasn't as if we could get very good reception on the few digital radio stations we could pick up.

And I agree that DAB radio is over-hyped. The BBC sell DAB and imply that old FM radio is crackly and inferior. AM is, but not FM. And you have to be very careful of what set you buy - there are some very indifferent ones out there.
