It would only be favouring a creditor if payment was made post bankruptcy surley?

And if you paid the money directly to the loan account thrn how do they get it back?

Was the loan always in you dads name or did your dad take a loan to pay of your loan when u got into difficulty?

If he was declared BR then he should not have the money to pay his dad back as he is insolvent. Once you realise you are insolvent is the time you should stop paying creditors or at the least not favour one over any other. The OR has ways and means of getting monies back.

Hi tech2, what you are suggesting is refered to as a preference payment, where you prefer to pay one debt over the others due to personal reasons.

This can result in further retrictions being placed on the bankrupt for an extended period of time and the OR can pursue the person who received the money (the bankrupts father) to recover the money

I'm a girl by the way hehe.

The loan is was always in my dads name. started about 2 yrs ago... about 9k to pay off now, maybe bit less.

I have truly added up what i pay at tesco metro and it really does come to around 400 per month,, thats with the cheapest things i can find... !

I think im even more confused now. Think doing a runner was the best option after all!!!

There is no way an OR would allow £400 per month for housekeeping for one person. I live in London too. Do you buy all ready meals or do you cook?

I spend £500 per month for a family of 5 and sometimes I get it below that, so I think you need to look at what you are spending your money on.

thats the problem....most Metro's near me charge 2-3 times more than a normal supermarket would charge it may be simply you need to travel a bit further to change shops

I'l agree with others £400 is most definatley a no no for a sibgle person..I didnt get that much for two of us

Why don't you try to do one shop per week. Whenever I have to go mid week I always end up spending an extra £30-£40 (or more) on things we just don't need.
