could well be! It is for sale with both garages! Turns out the small garage is selling it on behalf of the Citroen dealership because the dealership has run out of space on their forecourt. Not that I let on that I now know this  It's the old problem though of getting there on the Saturday (I guess I could get OH to but he will whinge before saying yes and it would be on his terms/times etc - ie hardwork) and then getting it back if I like it. The little (cheaper) garage is on my side of Southampton but still 20 miles away along the dual carriageway - I just couldn't drive it :o It is top of the list at the moment.

    :hello: there

My DS has the Tocco you mentioned, he said the screen wasnt very responsive  shame cos I was thinking about one of them as well:rolleyes:

    there yourself :D

good to get feedback - cheers. I've put a wanted out at work for anyone selling a cheap one if they've had an upgrade but if the screen isn't very responsive, I won't bother.

    Teaching tonight. Sigh.

Last session is 8 Feb. I've agreed to invigilate an exam 1 night the previous week and then another night the night after my last session. I'll get 4.5 hours in total at invigilator rate (£8.10) to add to my 2 weeks teaching in Feb which will be in my end of March salary. I'll need it really, the reality is that although I was nearly killing myself at the end of last term with full time work and teaching 2 nights (pus the prep work) it showed in my salary because I was clearing around £1250 between the 3 jobs. Any loss of teaching (ie 1 night a week which I'm currently doing) is going to chop money off and I can only afford to lose around £100 a month before I have to then start doing AQA at the weekends on top to stay afloat.

I've arranged to go and sit in a manual version of the Hyundai. There's one for sale about a mile from my office. I just want to see how it is to sit in/how it feels etc. Obviously automatic pedals etc won't be there and I won't be driving it but at least I'll know if it's too low/don't like the way it views etc before I try to arrange to see this one for sale at the weekend.

Had a very long winded letter from the solicitors about my injury claim today. I think they are saying

'you don't have any kind of legal insurance, we think you should. We've arranged for some. We'll deduct it at the end and recover it from the other person's insurer'.

    I think!

The crux sentence seems to be

'We consider that you should purchase insurance to support the Conditional Fee Agreement to protect you should you lost or for any reason have a liability to pay your opponent's costs'

and goes on to say they think it is needed

' covers disbursements such as medical and court fees as well as opponent's costs and disbursements if you are liable to pay them'

    and then

'we will attempt to recover this (£375!) from your opponent if you win'

Now, I should 'win' because she is liable because she drove into me. They've taken it upon themselves to inform a company about my claim and are waiting to hear back from them that they are happy to.

It took a page and a half to say this!! I think that's what they are saying and it's all part of the process. They don't say 'do you want this?' so I guess it's all part and parcel of what I need to go through but they just need to tell me they've done it.

If someone went in the back of you then it's definitely their liability. It's just a formality that they have to inform you.

Why the need for a touch screen phone?

    Morning gorgeous!
DONT pay anything to the Solicitor, if they are worth their salt then they will take the risk on this. Mum had her Claim insured by the Solicitor and when the initial offer of £2000 came in we could happily reject it knowing that 85% of any potential costs were covered by the Insurance should she be awarded less at Court ( we got £6500 ).
DSs claim is covered by Insurance provided by the Solicitor and he is currently receiving physio each week at their expense too. Obviously this makes their Claim easier and bigger so its in both parties interest.

You dont need to be with your Insurers Solicitors, any decent (Local) firm would take on a rear-ender case and be confident of winning. Hope you are adding up all these 'assisted trips' searching for a car cos you can usually charge those at 40p per mile. ...and try and claim for the inability to take advantage of the Scrappage Scheme. Anything is worth a try, it can only be turned down.:D X

Probably didn't explain myself (not the first time!!) - I don't need to pay anything to anyone, they will take it out of my claim at the end but at the same time will have claimed it back from the other party so I should lose out (I think!)

I've had to detail journeys taken so I've given the driving around to look at cars - remembering we went to Weymouth on one trip which is a 50 mile round trip.

Mentioned scrappage and they came back and said I had to have evidence that I had been planning to change my car. Of course I don't but I said that I had been researching it and now no longer had a car which I could use in the scrappage scheme and even a replacement car isn't valid as you have to own for 12 months first.

Went to sit in the manual Hyundai at lunchtime at the local garage - liked it :D Felt like sitting in the Honda although they'd polished the leather seat a bit too much and I nearly ended up under the steering wheel when I chucked myself into the seat :rotfl: Pedals felt right - I would guess they'll be in the same place in an automatic and sight lines were pretty good although most things have to be better than the Citroen  Shame the car was a manual - it was really nice!

Gemmz - I want a big screen phone so I can use the internet on the move. I mostly use my phone for texts and an alarm clock :rotfl:but would like to be able to use t'internet on it. The one I have is great in most aspects for an old phone but it's a tiny screen and the only thing I seem to be able to view is the t-mobile download website.

Don't think I can get out of the teaching after half term :( The tutor it has been offered too is shuffling their feet (even though they keep moaning they don't have work) and if they say 'no' for definite tomorrow I'll have to do it :( Shouldn't moan about having too much work, but I'm starting to begrudge doing it and it shouldn't be like that.

Saw a full time job as Beach Office Supervisor at work. Managing admin bookings and beach hut licenses, supervising summer beach staff, dealing with public queries and complaints management for one of the beaches and doing small time marketing stuff like posters and pamphlets. £18.5k - £21.5k and permanent. Could do it standing on my head to be honest. Most of it is admin stuff, I currently do the complaints management for my department and I've got 15 years of doing marketing materials.

Bottom of the scale would just about be manageable financially. Nice office by the beach too! Not sure........a full time permanent job is my current 'quest' but I just keep thinking that at some point it will all come together where I am. Trouble is, I don't enjoy my morning job and I doubt my afternoon job will ever become full time, even if made permanent. Might do I guess with some stuff I know is just about to become 'big' (apprenticeships) and would be a good add-on to my job which is managing NVQ's in the workplace. Just don't know really......

Right, back to doing teacher training work. I have to give a 20 minute presentation on Monday about at least one aspect of planning and deliving learning as part of my assessed work for the qualification........

Hi BB, Why dont you just apply for it? Even if you get through interviews and its then offered doesnt mean you need to take it :p Buts its something to then consider if its been offered. To be honest if you dont like your morning job and your afternoon job will never become full-time what is keeping you where you are? Appart for your teaching

Sorry, just playing devil's advocate

Just been reading about your insurance letter...had a chat with DH (this is his area of expertese) - He says if it's a clear cut case and the other driver is liable then there shouldn't be any fees or costs that aren't recoverable from the other side. Speak to the solicitor dealing with your case and ask if they feel the policy is needed...if so, ask them to pay and recover the costs because that's what they're getting paid for. You shouldn't be liable for those costs, I know eventually you'd get the money back via the 3rd party insurers but there's no reason why the solicitor doesn't take that cost themselves.

If you need any help with it just shout - DH would be more than happy to help.

    cheers Pooky :D

    cheers jinky :D

pap/sally -I might as well apply. It's an internal post only, so more than likely someone is lined up for it. The only bit I wouldn't like is if I get an interview. I'd not want to say I have one. I don't mind telling my morning manager but I don't want my afternoon one to think I want to go. I know he can't solve my afternoon problem long term (he has got my contract extended to May) as he is going to have to apply for his own job in the next 6 weeks or so

I think the beaches job will be manic in the summer and part of me wonders if the workload is reflected in the salary. Managing seasonal staff, managing customer service, marketing, complaints plus the other stuff for 18.5k. I'd want the middle of the band to be honest and as a comparable I really think it would pay lots more inthe private sector but I guess that's always the public/private sector divide.
