  • Oh dear, I am feeling very emotional tonight.

I have spent quite a bit of time with my Mum over the past week and it has made me realise even more how much she means to me. She is such an incredible woman, I only wish I could be half the insperation she is.:o

I need to knuckle down and get this mortgage paid and stop messing around spending on unnecessary things. I need to be able to support her when the time comes that she needs more care.

She is funny, caring, frustrating, loving, batty and so many more things all rolled into one. She is the most diplomatic person yo could ever come across!! I think that comes from being one of 13 children!

I know this is stupid but I wish I could change her situation, soetimes life a !!!!!!, she has worked all her life caring for others, gets three years into retirement only to be told she has a progressive neurological disease that will eventually see her unable to care for herself:mad::mad::mad:.

I am painting a poor picture here, she is 8 years in from diagnosis and MOST of the time copes very well, better than me perhaps! Tonight I am feeling angry and selfish...why my mum, the woman who as soon as anyone meets they fall in love with her and her lovely sweet nature. the woman who would do anything to hold her family together.....................

Less wine, more sleep I think..........

Thank you mummy, I'm so sorry about your mum, but you're right, I am lucky that i'm 38 and I still have my mum around, I will make the most of having her around, and I will tell her how much she means to me. Thank you for putting things in prospective:o

You're very lucky she is still in relatively good health TPA, concentrate on the positives rather than the negatives and have fun with her :)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

TPA I know exactly how you mean (although I love my mum dearly she drives me nuts sometimes) I couldnt be without her though....

My nanny is in the same place really. She has Alzeimers and vascular dementia and although she worked as a district nurse caing for the elderly we now find that she is unable to cope at home even with carers. She broke her pelvis abot 4 weeks ago and has been in hospital ever since and now has a place in a very nice local home. We now have the awful job of having to sell her home to pay for the care. Luckily its an SS home so when the money runs out they shouldnt turf her out on the street!

She brought me up from 11 years old and I hate seeing her disappear before she's gone, but I treasure the memories she gave me all of which are happy..... xx

    I understand as well

My dad fell over last week coming back from the shops, luckily a passer by helped him and the decorator that did the hall drove past, recognised him, so stopped and took him home

Where he then sat (as he told everyone he was fine) covered in lots of tissues, soaked in blood till my mum came home 5 hours later

She and my Aunty took him to hospital, they patched him back together and are amazed he hasn't broken any bones in his face. So he has black eyes, hands grazed, and a knee that won't heal, as he won't keep of it

He is now so bored that he has started to wear rubber gloves to do the washing up. He is back at the Dr's tomorrow as his platlets (sp) are low and his cholestrol is too high at 6.1
