Good news, not on the money front but on the sanity front at least!

A dear friend who lives abroad has just emailed to say she is running in the Dublin marthon in October and would love to met up with us there. We are going to go:j. She lost her Dad this year to whom she is very close, so we would love to see her again and give her a big hug.

Problem being it is over the bank holiday in Ireland so I don't think it will be cheap..hubby has looked up flights and they are ok coming in a about £60 each:j but me thinks the hotel will be expensive..anyone any knowledge on hotels in Dublin?? Perhaps some of my Tesco vouchers could come in useful???

Feeling like i'm turning a corner already.

Nice to see you have some lovely R and R planned, and now this to look forward to. Never been to Dublin myself, but DH has suggested we go on a weekend there for his 30th later this year if we can find a date his folks can watch our kids. If i spot any good places i will let you know, although i think we will be going with stuff the expense and find a nice spa hotel to really relax and enjoy ourselves. Either Dublin or Edinburgh. Not fussy. Just time alone and not at home rushing around sounds fab to me. :D

TPA try https://www.hotelscomparison.com - it searches all the sites & gives the cheapest. Do it on firefox, then book via quidco etc. on internet explorer. The Isaacs is quite cheap and only 10 minute walk from main area & try the Best Western Academy or Royal Dublin.

    Glad you're feeling brighter :T

  • The sun has been shinning today which I always find brightens my mood.:j

Had a nice day with hubby, went out for a meal() and a bit of essential shopping (i.e. cat litter, washing liquid etc) then a bit of not so necessary shopping:

    The justification:rotfl:

I shouldn't access the internet in work for personal emails etc., which means I tend to miss out on a lot of the 'more local' mystery shops. So purely for work purposes I have been looking into buying a mobile that will push my email through and allow me to access the internet. Having been told that only the iPhone or a Blackberry will push emails rather than having to pull them...OMG 've done too many mystery shops to phone shops, I almost sound like I know what i'm talking about.
To cut a very long story short the cheapest I could get an iPhone for, was £35 per month, now lovely as they are there is no way I can justify that, even if I can claim part of the cost back as taxable expenses. So a lot of searching later threw up an offer on Quidco for £150 cashback for any Blackberry contract and £180 off the bills via 02. So I will get 300 minutes, unlimited emails, texts and internet for around £18 per month (taking into account the cash back etc.) Lets just hope it all pans out.
I am getting the Blackberry Storm 2 with the touch screen. Bearing in mind my current mobile is about 5 years old this is going to be a BIG learning curve.

Hope everyone is having a good w/e

I'm suprised at that, I have the nokia N72 on vodaphone and emails show up on that quicker than they do on my computer which is always logged onto gmail. That said phone internet is so slow I can't use it to get mystery shops anyway :( Hope you enjoy your new purchase

Have looked into the hotels for you but we're struggling as they're all chains not specific hotels. We now always stay at Bewleys Hotel Dublin Airport, as its 20mins into town, but very reasonable if booked through hotels.com and luxurious to boot. Try trip advisor to find the best hotels in Dublin, then see if they are on the offer x

  • Well i've gone and done something that is not technically money saving as my mortage rate is so low at the moment. I have overpaid (yep a real over payment, not just an offset) £1,000. The actual mortgage figure has stood at over £80,000 for ages now and it's been annoying me, so rather than offsetting this £1,000 I went and paid it off:eek:. Stupid really but I wanted the figure to read £79k rather than £80K its all in my head as wether its offset or paid off doesn't really make any difference. This is the first time I have actually made an overpayment rather than just offset it. Felt good though:rotfl:.

Today has been wasted waiting for deliverys and work men, none of which arrived when they said they would.

Not very motivated to do much today, will have to make up for it tomorrow, the house is a tip!

How on earth do I manage to mystery shop on my own?:rotfl:

Between UK Monkey (new thread) & Tractor Girl (old thread) is the answer. Link your email addy then go to thread tools & subscribe to this thread - then select the email option on the page that takes you to.

Hope tomorrow brings lots of men to your door ;)
