Happy Birthday Dinah! :D That's so exciting about the house too! Hope the woman doesn't change her mind x
Cinny how was the driving lesson? All this talk of cars and Africa - very exciting!!

It went really well, it's you who wants a Fiat 500 isn't it? They are frickin' lovely! All white and cream on the inside. *sighs* My next lesson is on Sunday when I'll be going into... 2nd gear! and... turning left! Went to Frankies and Bennys with OH to celebrate me not chickening out, so the diet went out of the window! Had a pudding too which never happens, was starving as I didn't eat all morning with nerves! Going to look at Greg this afternoon and get my Mums car valued so I can see how much I need to borrow from my Premium Bonds to make the difference.

That's a shame about the dress sale Birdie! Sounds like the one in Friends where they all take whistles to blow when they find 'the' dress and Monica ends up rugby tackling another shopper!

Yuck Birdie that environment doesn't sound conducive to finding your perfect dress! I wouldn't worry, I'm sure you'll find a perfect one without all that kind of stress around you!

I know! I think there were some girls there who were smart and knew which dress they needed prior to going but there were loads just milling around looking for 'something', like me really, I just went in case there was a good dress at the right price! The samples were all 12 or 14 and there were some much bigger girls there trying dresses on, I don't really know why as the dresses did not fit at all and you can't order which size you want in a sample sale!

That's absolutely brilliant CMD! Big well done :T

Well done on your lesson Cinny too :)

Thanks Lara - it's great to see that the house is moving along nicely. You must be so excited about Uganda as well! I got to go to Western Australia with work a few years ago and was able to combine it with a trip to Sydney to see my brother and some friends. It was brill :)

Eek, sounds like Bridezilla hell! Strange about the bigger girls too, reminds me of Cinderella where the ugly sisters are trying desperately to squeeze their feet into the slipper :rotfl:Did you get any idea as to the sort of style you like though?

Yeah I like the lil 500s Cinny, though I think if I was going to go for the scrappage (not sure when it runs out!) I'd be quite inclined to go for a little VW Fox now ... but will more likely (if Bluey dies) go for a newer old Micra, I love them!

  • Happy Birthday Dinah - you kept that quiet! Any plans for this evening or did you celebrate at the weekend?

Birdie - the wedding shop sounds manic. It puts me in mind of when myself and OH went to the baby show at Earl's Court in October. We sauntered in and it was mental. There was 100s of manic pregnant women with lists!!! We did manage to get our pram though so we were happy with that :)

Will be watching to see how your driving lessons go Cinny, as OH has just sent away for his provisional and will start lessons soon.

Hi Tete - how was your weekend?

For any of you drivers - this is a bit of a how long is a piece of string question!!! - but roughly how many lessons would you need to take before you can take a test? Roughly!!!

Hehe, it was a bit like that! I was even like that in one dress, it was very snug on my hips, I thought I was stuck in it at one point!

I've decided that I can't walk in a dress with a train so anything that drags along behind me is a no-no and I can't have anything that draws too much attention to my bust as there isn't much of one as my Mum kindly pointed out!

Talking of Bridezillas, I went to Hobbycraft with my friend on Saturday to help her look for bits to put on her Save the Date cards and she's already a nightmare! We walked around the same aisles about 6 times looking for the perfect everything, her Mum kept telling her that it doesn't have to be fancy and to just choose *something* but no, it sets the tone of the entire wedding and people are going to judge her on it blah blah blah. I didn't want to tell her that most people will forget what it looks like as soon as they put it down for fear of being bludgeoned to death with a tube of glitter!

  • Oh dear! And this is the one you're chief bridesmaid for? Better do a good job with the hen night!

Hi CMD, I'd say I had about 50 hours before I passed, but I failed twice and a lot of those hourse were just 'keeping my hand in' whilst waiting for a new test date. If he's able to go out and practise in your car in between it may well be a lot less.

Hi! Yes my weekend was grand thanks! The amazing Italian I was looking froward to on Friday was full to the bring so we went to a mediocre Italian instead so I was quite disappointed. was a cheap weekend though apart from that :)

Rough kneecap, lovely! What can they do, take it out, sand it down and pop it back in?! Why do you think she's selling on a whim?

Correct, except the taking it out part! Basically its keyhole surgery. Can't wait for the MRI so I know what it is for certain.

I think she might have bought the house when she seperated from her partner and wants to move a bit further away. Thats just a bit of a guess though.

Going out for a nice dinner tonight with NIM and my parents. Just a quiet night though, no big party - too old!

9 lessons (hour each) before the first test, failed by doing 45 mph in a 30 zone... how was I to know they'd rezoned it 2 weeks earlier! Had another 3 lessons before the second test and passed. My lessons only cost £8 per hour as I did it in my own car too, was chuffed to have spent less than £100 on lessons (although as Tete will tell you I should really have had an extra one to teach me to park!)

Tete, luckily I'm just a bog standard bridesmaid, her sister has the joy of being chief! Phew!

I think I had about 15 lessons and lots of practice in between, I passed first time and I think it's because I was very confident as I drove somewhere nearly every day with my parents to get me used to the road. That first journey on your own is nerve-wracking though!
