Zig - Quinnster is such a cutie! I want a baby brotherTete_en_l'Air wrote: »Definitely get an oldie on like your mum or dad - OH might be more of a liability if he's under 25, and hasn't he just claimed on his insurance?
He claimed on it when he got hit last year, but got all the money back when they decided it was the other drivers fault. But I'll no doubt put one of my parents on the insurance, I do like that trick!
My Grandparents have been lovely though & given me £100 towards my lessons, so I might get some lessons booked instead of doing my theory first. Just a matter of where the money for the rest of the lessons is going to come from!
Lulu - That's a lot of money to lose, and I can understand you feeling guilty about it even though it was 'free' money. Just think of it as a learning curve though, and you know you wont do it again. x0 -
Since you're not saving anything at the moment Cinny surely you have £20 a week free for a lesson? xDebt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I think I have it sorted! My parents paid for my brother and sister to learn to drive, but lessons were way cheaper then so they've offered the £15ph they paid for their lessons. So just the £9 to pay too make the difference! Going with BSM now instead, as my Grandparents gave me to £100 to go with them as they cost more and you have to book in 2 hour blocks. Just seen I can get my first 10 hours for £189 if I book online though. Exciting!
I am saving a smidge though!0 -
Lulu, sorry to hear you feel so down. £100 IS a lot to gamble away, as CMD (I think) said, have you spoken to anyone about it? On the bright side, it was free money so yu haven't added to your debt or anything, just try to remember how angry you are at yourself now next time you feel the urge. Don't beat yourself up too much though.
Cinny, 2 hour slots are a good idea, that's what I always had - after an hour you feel as though you're only just getting into it.
Hope tomorrow goes well Wendz!!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
wow cinny thats cool, i guess theory will be easy for you cos you allready know all of the rules from driving/riding (?) your vespa! My mini is quite expensive to insure (£600!) but OH just has a clio and his insurance is about £400 and we're both 20 and 21 so in the "at risk" group lol. I would say for me, I found all my friends who had 2 hour lessons took a lot more hours to pass (so maybe think of having 1hour if you can?) do you have to have bsm?
I had a lovely private guy and I only needed 15 hours of lessons and he wasn't pushy at all with not having many. I did go out with my mum though so I would take your dad up on his offer of the van!!0 -
Zig- Quinn is scrummy! I love new babies when they're still all scrunched up and sleepy looking, adorable!
Lulu, sorry to hear about the slip. Has it happened before or did you just get carried away this time? Like everyone has said, at least it was 'free' money, but remember how cross you are next time you're tempted. I get cross when I lose £1 on online scratchcards!
Your talk of driving lessons reminds me that I have to book some for OH; I said I'd pay for some as part of his Christmas present. OH isn't planning on having too many lessons and we'll go out in my car and practice as much as possible- although I sense a lot of fights coming!
Hope the flat hunting goes well Wendz!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Quinn is lovely and I'm not really into babies!
Lulu, I think you just have to try to move forward now - did you say that you'd built up debts because of gambling? You're obviously aware of having a problem, but you're dealing with it so try not to feel bad
Wow Tink, your insurance doesn't sound all that expensive given you and your OH are so young *sigh*
Dinah, how's the pain today?
ETA: Wendz, good luck with the flat hunting! Don't feel downhearted just yet - you've only just started looking and properties come up all the time; it's often a waiting game! But the silver lining is, the longer it takes the more deposit you'll have!LBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -
:grouphug: Thanks everybody. My debt isnt down to gambling, but it certainly didnt help the situation. Everyone has said £100 is alot to gamble away, but to be honest its nothing compaired to what i used to be like. I dont think i have a problem with it anymore, it was just a slip, but i needed to confess to keep myself on track. Before if i lost £100, i would keep on and on to try and win it back...which of course never works!
No honestly, i used to get my wages at midnight on payday, and by 1am they would all be gone and i'd be back at my overdraft limit. So i am really proud that i have pulled through the way i have. Still really angry at myself for being so stupid, which is more of a sign then anything, in the past i wouldnt of given it a second thought! Where as i'd obvisously love to have my £100 back, it feels nice in a weird way (if that makes sense?!) because i know i can stop and i havent been tempted back on those sites.
Woah! Enough about me! Feeling positive today, dont know why but im not gonna knock it lol!0 -
do you have to have bsm?
I was going to go with a cheap private tutor but I told my Grandad that and he said he'd pay the difference for me to use BSM. So I'm kind of tied to them now! My Brothers girlfriend is using them though, and since she lost her job they've been letting her do 1 hour lessons so they must be flexible with it.
My Dad is getting way a head of himself though, taking me to look at cars after work! Any excuse for men to look at cars and they run with it!
Is it sunny anywhere else today?! It's really sunny where I am! If I didn't know it was freezing out I'd think it was summer0 -
If I didn't know it was freezing out I'd think it was summer
They've been cutting the grass outside my work, so it smells really summery but it's still nithering!
I had a private lady instructor, she was brilliant! I had a private man instructor for a while when I was 17 and he was actually a bit of a bully, so second time round I wanted a nice lady
Lulu, glad you're feeling so good - obviously the fact that you did 'confess' in the first place shows how far you've comeWeightloss: 14.5/65lb0
