  • Oh of course I didn't think - you'll have plenty of experience driving on the roads anyway! Definitely get the theory out the way with, then you can put in for your practical as soon as you're ready with no delays. If you dad has a driving school why doesn't he give you (discounted) lessons?

Cinny - good luck with the theory exam. Just to say watch out on Corsas as they are very very high in the insurance group so you will paying a fortune for insurance. You might want to look at other small cars which have a lower insurance rating.

Noo, my Dad's driving school is for motorcycles. Would be handy if it was for cars though!
Looking forward to getting all my theory stuff. Want to get it over and done with before the March so people can buy me lessons for my birthday :D They cost alot!

Poolie - Noooo! Even the tinny old ones?! What kind of cars are in the lower insurance groups? (I don't have a clue!)

I have a Punto and the insurance group is fairly low for that. Good little runabout too!

I googled low insurance group cars and there look to be lists on Auto Trader but I can't on and have a look for you as our work has blocked the site!

Well my Aygo is in a low group. VW Polos are medium group. Best to look at cars when your out and about and take name and model and try putting them into compare the market or gocompare and get some ideas.

    In money news!

Got my payslip and as expected work paid the annual gym benefit money so my take home is £120 higher so the cunning plan of paying £100 of the barclaycard on friday is going ahead (along with the £20 on Monday from quidco and the final amount + a bit for interest on the 4th). That means Mrs Poolie will get 150 in blood money on the 4th as well. As long as the bank of england don't change the interest rate between now and the 15th Feb (please, please, please) as Studies loan final amount is set.

Aw, thanks Birdie! I do like Puntos though, I'll add them to my list :D When me and OH were out at the weekend I was pointing at any car that looked remotely pretty and said 'I could have one like that!' but he ruined it by being a boy and going 'That's a blahblahblah model blahblah and when Top Gear did ... ' hmph!

That's great news on the money front Poolie! So will that mean you just owe money to Mrs Poolie?

Hope you feel better when you wake up Dinah!

Cinny, learning to drive is great! I have a Corsa SXi 1.2 and I love it - it's perfect. Insurance costs about £400 for me and OH, so maybe you could get another member of your family (your OH?) to go on insurance with you.

Here's a little pic of baby Q for anyone that cares! :p

    Ahhh he's a cutie
  • He's a smasher Zig :)

OH has a Corsa SXI 1.2 too and his insurance is really low, but he's been driving about 13 years with no claims. I find having a really really old knackered car helps - it's only worth £300 so that keeps premiums low as I'm a relatively new driver (2.5 years) - not the most reliable option though perhaps? Definitely get an oldie on like your mum or dad - OH might be more of a liability if he's under 25, and hasn't he just claimed on his insurance?

Poolie, I never understand your money talk?

Aww Zig, he's such a little cutie!! Lucky big sister!!
Dinah, that sounds scary about your knee, bet your counting down the days until your appointment.
Cinny, thats exciting that you're learning to drive! Wish i could. Been saying that since i was 17 though lol. Once i clear my debt, it will be one of the first things on my list.

Feel really angry with myself today. I gambled. I havent gambled in well over a month and was doing so well. But today i put the £100 i got from A&L and spun it all away. Only thing i can console myself with is that it was free money, that i didnt think i was going to get anyway, but still feel so disappointed in myself. Feel free to give me a telling off :o Urghhh it could've paid towards a debt or my phone bill!!:mad::mad: Noone to blame but myself.

Get my last wages on Fri, not sure what im going to get as they are paying some holiday owed, so that should be interesting.
Need to crack on with Dooyoo and Ebay and this, that and the other, but all i am is all talk and no action at the moment.

Now, to stop bringing the thread down...sorry :o
