Do you have a reserve on them? I seem to remember you saying they are worth quite a lot - or are you just happy to get rid of them?
Either way i hope you get lots more bidsBiggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
Nope no reserve, puts buyers off. I just want shot of them, don't care if they go at the current price so long as they're gone!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Been looking at houses again today, and one of them is a definate contender. 4 decent sized bedrooms, lounge, conservatory, reasonable sized kitchen (but a bespoke one, all granite and shinyness and an American fridge freezer thing), big garden, garage, marble showerroom, storage area in the roof. Downsides are it has no bath so would need the upstairs loo enlarging a bit into bedroom 4 to create a proper bathroom and a skylight putting in, and the master bedroom is on the ground floor at the front so would need voile curtains or something putting in so people can't look at you getting changed! Also its not in a village but a small and fairly up market town, so while its in very quiet suburbia, its walking distance to some very nice restaurants for a night out. Its comfortably within our budget too, so we wouldn't be too tight. Very seriously thinking of putting in an offer.
Sounds promising! Will you have to consult NIM's dad before you can put in an offer (if you do put in an offer)?ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)0 -
The house sounds good Dinah, I'm glad you've found something else that you like!
We didn't get our wedding booked at the weekend- again! I'm not happy! We took a load of DVDs to a pawn shop who bought them all off us for £170, we were expecting £80-£100 so we were happy with that! The plan was to then go to the Travel Agent and sort out the weddingmoon but we'd spent so long in the pawn shop (feeling very seedy but it's a 'nice' pawn shop, OH has bought quite a few games and Blurays in there so didn't feel too worried about going in!) that we didn't have enough time left as OH needed to be back for Rugby (still not playing but he's their #1 fan!), we were going to go to the Travel Agent in town on the way to Rugby but on the way back we passed Sleepmasters and thought we'd pop in to look at beds and 30 minutes and £765 later we'd ordered a bed! So not only did we not have time to book the wedding but no money left to put down as a deposit! D'oh!
I'm excited about the bed though, comes the first week in February! And the best thing- we bought it outright, no credit! Yay!
I've also e-mailed the hotel in the Dominican about the wedding and they have various packages but I can't quite make sense of it, I hoping that they'll reply to my confused e-mail asking exactly how much everything will cost! I think it basically ranges from $500 - $2500! Guess which one I want!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Haven't checked in a while on the actual value. I know there are no properties up for sale which can only be a good thing.
Don't plan on selling either for a while so might as well get the equity build up in it.0 -

Good idea to get the equity built up. That's what I will be doing once I get rid of this debt - overpaying on the mortgage. Ours isn't anywhere near negative equiry yet but want to have a big deposit if we decide to build something in Spain in a few years so defo want to pay off as much as we can
Great news on the house Dinah! One thing I would check out is how much the 3 beds are going for in the area cos if you install a bathroom upstairs and get rid of one bedroom you need to make sure that you are not losing value on the house. Just something to think of. Any photos of it? I love looking at houses!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Definately not loosing a bedroom, it would still be a 4 bed, we'd just be shaving a bit off the 4th one as its a pretty decent sized bedroom 4 and we'd only want it as a study anyway. I've pm-d you the link, don't think I'm wierd but I don't want to post details of a house I'm seriously thinking of buying and discussing my plans for it on an online forum, the vendor or a friend or something could be reading!
I've been thinking about the house this morning, I really need to get a wiggle on clearing this CC, whether its this house or another one, I need the CC gone, and to start building up a bit of a war bunker for furniture, decorating and any small immediate works like this one needs a new upstairs bathroom and a skylight. Although some of the furniture and the like can go on our wedding registry and hopefully some will be bought for us. AND I still need to finish the wedding savings. The savings for Japan 2011 will have to take a back seat for a while! That said if we keep going at this rate on the Clubcard vouchers the flights may well be taken care of in that manner.
Turns out the reason the vendor yesterday at the first place didn't know we were coming was that they booked us in for a viewing at a completely different house! They have two on the same street. Find it odd they didn't question why we were looking at one 90k one bed mainsonette, and one £160k 4 bed family house!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Don't think you are weird at all. I would be the exact same as you.
That's great you get to keep the 4th bedroom. In that case you would be adding money straight away with the bathroom. How exciting!

Just had a look and I really like it. Am loving the kitchen in it - very contemporary. The bedrooms look a great size too though not too sure about the decor of the pink/peach room but that is only a minor cosmetic thing and so easy to sort out.
Am very jealous that you can get a house for that price where you are. It would be at least £100k more where I live. I really wish you the very best of luck to both of you with this one. I have a good feeling about it and could see you in it
