Thanks Tete, just had a look at your blog and now I'm starving! Gonna try that recipe at the weekend, it looks yum!

Well hope Dinah is having a fab time and de-stressed. I'm just starting (actually it won't be that bad). Turns out we can't get married in Barbados now as the flight arrives at 2pm, magistrates closes at 3.15pm, so not a hope of getting the licence on time. Had a wedding planner sorted as well, boo! So it's now the week before the cruise, 11/11/11 to be precise, registry office, gorgeous restaurant for a family meal, then a night on the town with whoever wants to come. Can't wait, registry booked, restaurant provisionally booked, dress and shoes bought. No probs!

Hi to all other girlies (and boys)

    Hi everyone!

That sounds wonderful Swinstie, really gorgeous. I'm jealous of all these exotic weddings and honeymoons! You should be excited about your wedding Birdie, it's really soon, yay.

I am just getting ready to go to Kampala, next Saturday now eeeek. So I just want to get it over with now (in a good way though). My Mum and Dad are over at the minute, they really liked the wedding venue which is cool, and they are happy with the guest list and stuff.

CMD it's lovely to hear about Max. Can't wait to see Dinah's photos when she gets back.

Hi everyone!!!! I was expecting a tome to wade through when I got back, but I'm all caught up in 20 mins!

Loved Dubai, Maldives was (how to put this and not sound stupid?!) too tranquil for us! That said we slept the first two weeks of the honeymoon we were so shattered after the wedding, never felt so knackered. The Maldives was beautiful, unspoilt, but we just kept making so many plans of things we wanted to get on and do in life we found it quite hard to do nothing. This wasn't helped by the fact that we hit the worst bit of rany season this year apparently! Got 2 non rainy days, then another 3 half days without rain. As usual, NIM got burnt.

For anyone who hasn't seen the wedding pics yet, here's the link. Enjoyed the actual wedding day so much more than I thought I would, it really was a fantastic day and we were so blessed with the weather too. I couldn't believe how warm our family and friends made us feel (NIMs mother excluded, mother of all fights between him and her the day after the wedding, they're not talking anymore). I feel I only have 2 pieces of wisdom to pass down though - firstly don't fret about the little details, you don't notice them at all - someone came up to me at our wedding and told me how beautiful the sunflowers were in the church, to which I responded 'there were sunflowers?!'. My other piece of advice is very practical - before buying a dress sit down in it. If at all possible sit down in it and chew something. I discovered I couldn't do this and my wedding breakfast consisted of campagne and half a roast potato! My maid of honor had to take me to the loos and undo the zip under the buttons to give me a tiny bit of breathing space. Dress felt loose stood up but sat down it was a nightmare!

Haven't seen the new house yet. waiting for mum to come home from work with the key.

Have hit reality with a harsh bump on our return. Our builder has sent us a bill for £3000!!! The quote was £1700 so we're somewhat flabergasted to say the least. Already stressed about that.

The other thing is our car has failed the MOT in fairly spectacular style. Think it failed on 8 points or something, including a weeping power steering cable, needing a new handbrake (despite this one being only 18 months old) and then a whole host of brakes, tyres etc. So we're sticking her on ebay for spares or repairs, and we're going to be car free for a while. Which is terrifying!

Gosh, that is soon Lara, exciting! Will you still be in touch with us whilst you're away? Hope so! :)

It's my first full day back at work in 4 weeks, quite a struggle after doing very little for so long! It turns out that what was thought to be a virus may actually be more psychological ('anxiety issues' the doctor says...), I was at home feeling OK, tried coming into work twice over a couple of weeks and had to go home both times because I kept going all dizzy and headachey and panicky. Not good! I've been signed back on but with the agreement that I'll be let in gently and moved to a quieter office. I think the problem is that the office they've moved us into is so loud and there are so many people invading my little personal bubble because we haven't got enough room has just made me go dippy, the delights of being autistic and not being able to deal with loud noises and lots of people! I reckon I just about managed for a few weeks because I had to, then my brain and my body got together and shut down on me because they'd had enough! So this morning I came into work, explained the issue to the relevant people and got moved into a little manager's office in the corner of the big office where it is a lot quieter, but I also feel a bit like I'm in the naughty corner! I've been told it's not a long term solution either so I have no idea what's going to happen because I really can't cope with sitting where I was before, even going over to my 'old' desk to pick something up makes me go all jittery because of the noisy ladies shouting down the phone! My poor little ears can't take it!

On a plus side, our chair arrived from Next yesterday and it looks lovely, the living room looks so much bigger now! Although the spare sofa is on its end in our spare room now and we need to get rid of it ASAP because it's like an obstacle course in there since we've also got a rocking chair in there that we're trying to offload onto someone! Anyone fancy a rocking chair...? ;)

That sounds really rough Birdie, hope they come up with a permenant solution soon. If the job makes you feel this ill would you consider looking for another one?
Hi Dinah, hope you're enjoying your honeymoon :)

Just thought I'd come out of lurkdom to say hello, seeing as I FINALLY made it to the end of your diary

Hi to everyone else too. You might or might not remember ages back Dinah saying that an old uni friend had randomly found her on here? Well that was me. At the time, I went back and started reading her diary from the start, and here I am, reaching the end several months later. So I just thought I'd pop up and say hello :o

Hey hon, aye it is a bit War and Peace at this point :D

Hello girlies! Is everyone OK? I’m feeling very jealous of Dinah’s 3 week honeymoon; I hope she got lots of pictures to turn us green with envy!

I worked out today that in exactly 1 year OH and I will be running around Harry Potter Land like kids on too many e-numbers, how exciting! We’re not going away at all this year now because we’ve decided to put all of our money towards wedding/honeymoon next year so we can do everything we want to do (and so OH can get his hat, wand and cape in HP Land! :rotfl:) I bought my pink ‘Barbie’ dress last night for my hen party, it was only £30 on eBay so I couldn’t resist, and I can’t wait for it to arrive! I’ll have to post a picture when I get it! I think OH will find me wandering around the flat in it when he gets home from work the day it arrives! I’ve been having quite a few odd wedding dreams recently and I think that my subconscious is telling me to stop making lists and to start ticking things off the lists instead! Only 148 days to go!

OH has been super nice to me recently, I’m not sure why but I’m enjoying it! He gave me some money to buy new work clothes at the weekend because he was fed up of my tatty work wardrobe :o, I got loads of really nice stuff from George for £57, I couldn’t believe it! Nor could he, think he got off lightly there! LOL!

Oh and Tete you sly fox, I didn’t know you had a blog! I had to stumble across it on Cinny’s! I have no idea how to follow blogs so I just have them in my favourites and check every couple of days but I’m watching you! ;)

How's Max doing CMD? He must be big now!

Glad you're getting spoilt, you need it after the rough time you've had lately.

I multiquoted more messaes than that and they've gotten lost, annoying, but Swinstie - we have a mutual friend on Facebook which suprised me - initials RT - incidentally this is monkeymonkey on here who posted above - its a tiny world! How do you know one another?!

Really excited to be home and to be moving into our house today. Looking forward to unpacking, and starting to cook there, making it ours. Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow though! Having to rely on dad for lifts when he can, otherwise its a train and a bus as its still a few months until I can drive again.

About to go off and do my budgets - but suffice it to say NIM and I are about to be back with a vengance in the next few weeks (especially if that builders quote is accurate!).

Glad to see you back, and to hear you enjoyed your honeymoon! I understand what you said about being too tranquil, I know somewhere like that would be too quiet for OH and I. OH gets bored sat still for too long, has to be up and about doing something :rotfl:

I've said it before but NIMs mother really does sound like a piece of work!

Looking forward to seeing the 'after' pictures of the house, you must be very excited :D

  • You look absolutely beautiful and a very happy couple. Good luck to you both. I felt so guilty as I was the one who suggested you could make your own veil and then I think it was very stressful to do so, mind it's a triumph! I'm slinking back to lurkdom.

The pictures are great Dinah, you look beautiful and NIM looks very young :). And the cupcakes, OMG, they look delicious!
  • Good evening Mrs NIM!

Glad to hear you had a lovely honeymoon. I always get very reflective on holidays as well. Although, it may have seemed too tranquil it was probably just what you needed to refresh yourselves.

You looked beautiful on your wedding day. I did have a glass of prosecco for you when I was at a wedding the same day in Italy! Looking forward to seeing photos of the honeymoon and also of your house.

It's good to have you back :)

Glad you had a great honeymoon Dinah, can't believe it's all over though! You both look so happy and wish you all the best for the future!

I know, I noticed we had a friend in common on FB too, don't actually know Monkey, but have 'met' and 'friended' her from the Blondie thread where we both started posting over a year ago.
