I'm dieting with the MFW lot now, as our thread seemed to die a bit of a death.
Its possible, but not easy, I think I might be able to get about 10lbs done at most, but hey, it all helps. Going to start working out on a weekend too, up to now thats been my time off but the hen weekend is likely to set me back a bit!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Hen is the weekend of the 14th August, no idea what we're doing, my maid of honor has organised it as a suprise - everyone keeps telling me she's done an amazing job though so I'm quite excited to see what we're doing.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Oh and the non rising cakes. Its usually one of three reasons - the first is overbeating the mix, or not using a metal spoon to fold in the flour. The next is that there is too much liquid in the batter, some people use milk if they think the batter is a bit thick which will make a really smooth batter but might stop it rising. The final cause is pretty common - the oven is not hot enough. You can get an oven themometer for a few quid at lakeland - it will help see if your oven is running at the temperature it says on the dial - a lot of them loose efficency over time.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Yeah exactly! Thanks for the tips Dinah, I'm inclined to blame the oven so we'll see if a house move improves the situation!

This makes me feel like a terrible baker! I just use a wooden spoon, mix like crazy and the oven is never at full temp when I put the cake inSaying that I'm terrible at following recipes, and tend to make little shortcuts!
Hope everyone's had a nice weekend! Can't believe it's gonna be Monday again in a couple hours, boo!0 -
We all know you're the cake-queen Cinny so don't be modest, I just got interested in the science of baking a few years ago after I got really annoyed lemon tarts kept cracking on me, so I went and learnt as much as I could about different issues.
Weeks seem to be passing quicker and quicker. It's NIMs stag do this weekend coming - maybe it'll sink in that we're actually getting married when I see photos of him wearing a 'groom' sash tied to a lampost on Yarm highstreet?!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
