I only say it's fancy because I know that my hair would stick up all over the place! I've got a little side fringy thing going on and that's always sticking up! Stupid lively hair!
It's for the best really that the appointment is so soon, less time to get worked up and wimp out!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Eek, 2 pm! You'll have to come back this afternoon and post a pic! My hair would never stay all the way over at one side like that but I agree you can pull it off. I'm v lazy when it comes to my personal grooming, I realise this after reading a 'how high maintenane are you' thread on here the other day. One girl went on and said she was low-maintenance yet she had her nails done every two weeks, took half an hour to put her make-up on in the morning, etc etc! If I even paint my nails myself in clear I'm doing well! I wash my hair every morning but don't alweays bother drying it and my colleagues are lucky if I put more than a bit of concealer on on a morning! Yikes, that's made me feel a bit ashamed! I don't *think* I look as bad as I sound!!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

Aw no Tete, I think that's great! I wish I could feel confident enough to go out without makeup, but I do need a lot of preening to look half decent!
I'd say I'm pretty HM, take about 45 mins to get ready in the morning. Then spray tans, nails (although I do them myself most of the time) hair dye, lash and brow tints (need them, other wise my brows are ginger!) and I have 'pamper nights' about twice a week with face packs and bbcthree trash! OH makes a point of staying in bed for about 40minutes after I get up because of it.
ETA: In all fairness I only take 45minutes because I'm slow and end up watching The Hoobs a little!
Got my pictures sorted, and I've got my Sister coming along who gets pretty nasty with me if I dither, so I don't have much choice. I'll post a picture though, must remember to charge my batteries actually!0 -
I don't even bother with concealer for work!
I don't really care that I look a state though because there's no-one to dress up for! I went straight to my Mum's from work before going to the party thingy last night and I looked in the mirror and had a fit! Had to steal her make-up to make myself look presentable!
I'm the total opposite on the weekend though, it takes me a good hour and a half to get ready (including shower), OH gets so mad!
I wish I could get my nails done... I miss having lovely hands! I'm really trying to figure out if I can squeeze them back into my budget. Right now it's a toss-up between gym membership or nails... hmmmm.... I'm leanign towards the nails!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. If you guys are low maintenance than I must be no maintenance!! This working from home lark is dangerous as half the day can easily be spent in jammies without anybody knowing.
I am having a pants day. I wanted to go to this conference but I didn't realise that if you didn't register by 5th July they jacked up the prices. The fees were EUR 155 and now they are EUR 245  I have a travel fund with my uni funding but am about to decimate it with 3 x trips to Uganda in the next year at about £500ish each. But I haven't spent other parts of the fund like 'research support' which I might be able to merge into the travel bit. I feel like such a wally now. I think I get a bit too MSE sometimes, it sort of hurts me inside if I have to pay full price for something or if I don't get something a the right price because I am disorganised :rotfl: Also the travel there is a bit of a nightmare, I could do cheap flights but it would be about 6 hours travelling after the flight, or just pay £70ish extra to fly BA? Should I even go? I have told everyone I am going as well
I still have to book all my Uganda flights and sort out my visa :insert headless chicken smiley:
In more exciting news I finally found a secondhand desk and filing cabinet for my new office. They are being delivered this afternoon - yay!:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Are you happy about the work arrangement or not Dinah? Are the 4 weeks you’re taking from holiday allowance up to December? Not so bad if it is, worse if it’s up to April or something! That’s good that you can take the train to work once the offices move, not so good that it’s not a nice area!
That’s pretty annoying about the tiler as well, but you’re right to look on the bright side that you can get money back from taking the unused tiles back! Can you knock a bit off his bill for not doing his job properly?!
Not really, I didn't say we wanted the black border tiles. I guess lesson learned is be there, and be specific.
I'm fine about the return to work, although would rather we could have found a way to do it a bit sooner, it doesn't sit well going back for one week then being off for 4! Train to work would be fab though, I'd get half an hour each way every day to read my book. Especially in winter it'd be great, as it has been known to take me 4 hours to drive in the snow and ice a journey that should take 45mins, I'd feel a lot safer on the train too.Tete_en_l'Air wrote: »It's National Cheesecake Day did you know that?
That work arrangement doesn't sound too bad - you can catch up on the bulk of what you've missed in that first week, then have a holiday and get back into it afterwards. How's the knee going??
I didn't know that! Good timing!
Knee is starting to progress, although I still can only do closed chain (ie foot pushing against something, rather than working on its own) exercises, but my physio is drawing me up a plan so I can go to the physio department without her, and do the exercises on my own.Dinah - I second Birdie, are you happy about the arrangements? Good news about them scrapping that car thing though, I always found it quite odd! As of the tiler, it might all come together! We have 2 in the company and they're both super scatty-heads but things always come together. I hope it does for you!
I'm getting very nervous, I'm about to book my hair in for a cut and I'm going short, like Frankie from The Saturdays but a little bit longer on the 'long' part. I did the typical 'messing around clipping hair up' jitty to see what it would look like, what do you all think?? I like it, but obviously it's alot easier to like knowing I can just pull a couple clips out and have my hair back. I think I could pull it off.
Definately think you can carry it off, looks lovely on you as you have such a delicate english rose complexion the funky hair makes you look more stylish.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

The hair will look lovely Cinny. Frankie was stunning when I saw her the other day at the 'gig' I went to.
Dinah, glad you are happy about the work arrangements. I go to work on the train (can't really drive into central London anyway) and I find it really relaxing.
I am pretty low maintanance. I straighten my hair most days and wear foundation, bronzer, concealer and mascara on a day but at the weekends i do the whole shabam. I also do the fake tanning about once a week. Used to get my nails done but was expensive and hard work!0 -
A good idea to take a break if the veil is getting to you, you don't want to me making mistakes because you're thinking, 'I don't care anymore! Stupid lump of lace, just finish yourself why don't you?!'
Haha!I love the sound of your pirate outfit and parrot!
Can't wait to see your hair Cinny, I bet it will look great. I wish I was brave enough to dye my hair or do something drastically different but I've spent so long growing it that the most I'll do is a blunt fringe! I have a question for those on my facebook - do you think I should get the blunt fringe cut back in or not? I'm undecided.
Dinah that's good news about the train - much easier than driving most of the time. Will you be able to walk properly by the wedding? Sounds like you're making progress but it must be frustrating.
Lara you sound like you're here, there and everywhere! No wonder you feel like a headless chicken! Do you think you'll just pay the extra? Would it be worth it?
I'm pretty low maintance too. Don't even bother to straighten my hair anymore; just wash and go! I very rarely go out without makeup though, even if it's just eyeliner and concealer, so I don't look dead!
Your cheesecake sounds nice Dinah, is the recipe online at all? I made a Tana Ramsay chocolate cheesecake yesterday which was dead easy and pretty good too. Not chocolatey enough for me though. And I made my first victoria sponge which tasted lovely even though it was pretty flat. Anyone have any good tips to get a high-rise sponge?!
